Abstract
A lighting lens having a multiplicity of lenticules is disclosed, and in particular the use of aspherical lenticules is disclosed. The lenticules are of two or more standard types, each type being defined be a different cross sectional curvature. The different lenticle types are distributed across one side of the lens in an intermixed pattern. By selecting two standard lenticule types, and determining a weighted ratio, a lens for a desired lighting pattern may be made without having to specifically design the individual lenticules, or the particular lenticle arrangement.

5541825 - Dual image CHMSLs without holography - Owned by Hughes Aircraft Company

A stoplight system that includes a light source for providing a light output, and an array of non-overlapping lenslets comprised of first lenslets and second lenslets, each first lenslet configured to refract a portion of the light output of the light source into a first predetermined angular field comprising a central angular region having vertical and horizontal extent, and each second lenslet configured to refract a portion of the light output of the light source into a second predetermined angular field comprising first and second peripheral angular regions that are horizontally on either side of the central angular region, whereby the portions of the light output of the light source that are refracted by the first and second lenslets form stoplight illumination.

5442252 - Lenticulated lens with improved light distribution - Owned by General Electric Company (Schenectady, NY)

A lenticular lens containing a multiplicity of multi-sided lenticules useful with reflector lamps provides improved light distribution by having the lenticules oriented to avoid parallelism with a projected light image and distributed in a plurality of zones or bands concentric about said optical center. The size and light-spreading ability of the lenticules in each zone is selected to provide the desired light distribution. Parallelism is avoided by having the lenticules arrayed in a plurality of wedge-shaped sections circumferentially arranged in a circle around the optical center of the lens and extending through the zones with the lenticules in each section arrayed in a uniform, close-packed hexagonal array of parallel rows with the longitudinal axis of one of the rows being radially aligned with respect to the optical center of the lens, so that none of the sides of the lenticules are parallel to the light source image projected off the reflector.

7196460 - Incandescent reflector heat lamp with uniform irradiance - Owned by Osram Sylvania Inc. (Danvers, MA)

An infrared heat lamp has a reflector body closed by a lens and having a source of infrared radiation positioned within the body. The lens has a plurality of lenticules formed thereon to provide substantially uniform radiant intensity within a 50.degree. cone on a planar surface spaced from the lens, the radiant intensity varying as the inverse of (cos .beta.).sup.2. In a preferred embodiment all of the lenticules have a parabolic shape.

6991360 - Flashlight with a light source aligned with a reflector axis - Owned by Mag Instrument, Inc. (Ontario, CA)

A flashlight having features that align the light source of a lamp with the principal axis of a reflector, such flashlight having a head assembly that includes a reflector and a lens. The reflector has a central opening that surrounds the principal axis of the reflector. The light source of the flashlight is held by a lamp base and an axis of the lamp base is aligned with the light source. Particularly, the hottest portion of the light source may be aligned with the lamp base axis. The self-centering characteristic of the lamp base is configured with a non-cylindrical feature to be seated in a base receiver. The base receiver includes a receiver axis that is aligned with the principal axis of the reflector. The lamp can include a pair of electrodes and a filament light source extending between the electrodes.
