Abstract
A multimode electronic timepiece includes a display, an audible alarm device, a plurality of manually actuated switches, and an integrated circuit programmed to keep time and to provide a plurality of modes including time-of-day, alternate time zone and alarm setting modes. The integrated circuit is programmed to permit an operator to set time-of-day in response to actuation of selected switches, to set alternate time zone time in response to actuation of selected switches, and to set alarm set time in response to actuation of selected switches. The integrated circuit has a memory location for time-of-day and is programmed to selectively actuate the audible alarm device when the alarm set time corresponds to time-of-day in said memory location. The improvement comprises a flag selected in response to actuation of one of the switches which will substitute the alternate time zone time for time-of-day, whereby the audible alarm device may be selectively actuated when the alarm set time corresponds either to time-of-day or to alternate time zone time, depending upon setting of the flag.

6587398 - Method and apparatus for providing selectable roaming and non-roaming alarms - Owned by Motorola Inc. (Schaumburg, IL)

A communication device such as pager (100) includes a real-time clock circuit (118). The real-time clock circuit keeps track of both the pager's home time zone information (402) and the pager's current time zone information (404). While the pager user is operating within his home area, the pager's home time zone information (402) and the current or local time zone information (404) will be the same. If the user however travels away from his home system's time zone, the real-time clock circuit adjusts the current time zone information (404) to reflect the time zone the user is currently operating in. The user can set alarms which reference either the home time zone information (402) or the current time zone information (404). This allows for more user flexibility on how the alarm conditions are to operate.

5587971 - Mode preselect function for a multimode electronic timepiece - Owned by Timex Corporation (Middlebury, CT)

A multimode electronic timepiece includes a display, a number of manually actuated switches, and an integrated circuit programmed to keep time, to provide a plurality of operating modes, including time-of-day, in a continuous loop, and to permit an operator of the timepiece to cycle through the operating modes sequentially by selectively and repetitively actuating a first of the switches. The improvement includes at least one preselect function mode which displays information from a preselected operating mode along with information from another operating mode. The preselect function mode(s) is engaged by selective actuation of a second of the switches, and in the preferred embodiment, this switch is also used to cycle through the preselect function modes sequentially (where there is more than one preselect function mode). Upon actuation of another switch, the timepiece shifts between a preselect function mode and the operating mode, other than the preselected operating mode, having its information displayed by the preselect function mode.

5559762 - Electronic clock with alarm and method for setting alarm time - Owned by Seiko Epson Corporation (Tokyo,JP)

An electronic alarm clock including a clock timing circuit for counting the basic time, an alarm time setting circuit for setting an alarm time and an alarm time storing circuit storing said alarm time. The electronic alarm clock also includes an alarm coincidence detecting circuit for detecting the coincidence between the basic time and the alarm time stored in said alarm timing storing circuit, an alarm setting/resetting circuit and an alarm sounding control circuit for causing an alarm sounding circuit to sound when said alarm setting/resetting circuit is set and said alarm coincidence detecting circuit detects the coincidence between said basic time and said alarm time.

5555226 - Automatic setting of alternate time zone data in a multimode electronic timepiece - Owned by Timex Corporation (Middlebury, CT)

A multimode electronic timepiece includes a display, a plurality of manually actuated switches, and an integrated circuit having memory locations. The integrated circuit is programmed to keep time and to provide a plurality of modes, including time-of-day and at least one alternate time zone. The integrated circuit is further programmed to permit an operator of the multimode electronic timepiece to set the time-of-day and the alternate time zone in response to actuation of selected switches, and to store the time-of-day and the alternate time zone data in the memory locations. The improvement comprises a flag means which will copy the contents of the memory location storing the time-of-day data to the memory location for the alternate time zone data when the time-of-day has been set and the alternate time zone has not been set by the operator.

6876600 - Portable terminal apparatus having automatic adjustment function for time difference - Owned by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Osaka,JP)

Area location information on a base station received by a receiver (12) is identified by an area location identification section (14) and an identification result is output to a time controller (24). In case an area location of a portable terminal apparatus (10) has changed with the movement of the portable terminal apparatus (10) thus causing a time difference in the area location of the portable terminal apparatus (10) before and after the movement, the time controller (24) obtains time difference information from a time difference information database (34), adds/subtracts the obtained time difference information to/from a reference time of a timekeeping section (18) to automatically calculate the time corresponding to the area location of the portable terminal apparatus (10) after movement and displays the time on the display section (26). Thus it is possible to display the correct time without entering or registering time difference information by a user.
