Carrier stock formed from a single sheet of resilient polymeric material, such as low density polyethylene, and severable into individual carriers with integral handles. For each carrier, integrally joined band segments define container-receiving apertures. Moreover, an integral handle is joined at its ends respectively to middle portions of two outer segments, which are joined to one cross segment at a node. Stresses are distributed from each end of the handle, through the outer segment having such end joined to a middle portion thereof, to two cross segments. Perforated lines divide alternate cross segments into half segments and facilitate severance of such stock to form the individual carriers. Each half segment has an aperture-defining edge configured to provide means, which may comprise a nub, for countering tendencies of such half segment to neck down or to break. The handle has a middle leg, which is joined to the node via a frangible joint, as defined by a perforated line extending across the middle leg. The frangible joint is designed to break away when stressed.
Carrier stock for machine application to substantially identical containers, such as beverage cans, has tear-open capability provided by tear-open band segments. Such segments, which extend between adjacent containers, are divided into half segments and have slits and frangible bridge, whereby a tear beginning at a crotch at one end can propagate through such a half segment. The slits include slits common to the half segments and slits staggered transversely.
A system for packaging at least a pair of containers each having an openable portion such as a flip top. A first holder is utilized with respect to the first container and includes a first member for at least partially surrounding the first container openable portion. A second holder is also provided and includes a second member for at least partially surrounding the second container openable portion. The first and second holders are connected to one another in a separably sealing manner to form an abutment between the openable portions of the first and second containers. A handle extends from the connected first and second holders.
This invention relates to a package of a plurality of containers unitized with a flexible carrier. The carrier is constructed from a plastic planar sheet having a plurality of container receiving openings arranged in longitudinal rows and transverse ranks. A panel extends from a longitudinal edge of the planar sheet that is arranged to either remain flat and tight with respect to the package or, alternatively, follow an external contour of the package.
This invention relates to a package of a plurality of containers unitized with a flexible carrier. The carrier is constructed from a plastic planar sheet having a plurality of container receiving openings including corner container receiving openings and inner container receiving openings. A panel is positioned with respect to a straight longitudinal panel edge of the container receiving openings. When the containers are inserted into the container receiving openings, the panel remains flat and tight with respect to the containers. The panel is urged into a flat position with respect to the containers through a distinct spatial relationship between and among the container receiving openings.
Carrier stock formed from a single sheet of resilient polymeric material, such as low density polyethylene, for machine application to substantially identical containers. The stock is severable to form individual carriers with three longitudinal rows of container-receiving apertures, as defined by integrally joined band segments, which include generally longitudinal outer band segments and generally diagonal inner band segments. One of the band segments defining each container-receiving aperture has a tear-open tab. The band segments having tear-open tabs include a specified subgroup of the diagonal inner segments and either the longitudinal outer segments, in a first embodiment, or an additional subgroup of the diagonal inner segments, in a second embodiment. Each band segment having a tear-open tab has slits to facilitate tearing of such band segment when the tear-open tab is pulled.
