Abstract
In the context of a feeder, more especially a sheet feeder, comprising firstly a suction device which is placed over a stack of items to be fed, and has a separating devicre with at least one telescoping and preferably vertically reciprocable lifting suction holder, which when a sucker is covered over is able to be retracted against the action of a returning force by the action of vacuum present at such sucker, and secondly a conveyor device which has at least one reciprocating entraining sucking device and is adapted to have such item transferred to it from the separating device lifting such item from said stack, the invention seeks to achieve trouble-free operation and simplicity of operation by the provision of on the one hand at least one vacuum hold nozzle adjacent to overlapping surfaces of the telescopically engaging parts of each lifting suction holder and adapted to be turned on and off in accordance with the entraining suction motion in a manner independent of the sucker, and there is furthermore an abutting surface associated with the nozzle and resting against same in the retracted position.

5377968 - Feeder of a paper sheet processing machine - Owned by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg,DE)

A feeder in a paper sheet processing machine has a plurality of lifting suckers for lifting a paper sheet from a stack of paper sheets. After the sheet is lifted into a raised position it is entrained by a transport device and transported to a paper sheet processing unit. A force potential acts permanently on the lifting sucker downwardly in a direction towards the stack. The lifting sucker is lifted against the force potential in a cyclically controlled manner in a lifting and lowering stroke. A retaining collar is formed on the lifting sucker beneath which a retaining support engages so as to delay a return of the lifting sucker to its lower position and to stop the sucker in the lower position. The retaining support is mounted shiftably parallel to the stroke direction of the lifting sucker. Controlled pneumatics communicate with the retaining structure, so as to shift the same as a function of the stroke position of the lifting sucker.

5738347 - Device for adjusting the suction height of a suction lifter in the feeder of a sheet-processing machine - Owned by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg,DE)

A suction lifter in a feeder of a sheet processing machine is cyclically reciprocated for separating and picking up sheets from a sheet pile and transferring them to a towing sucker. A suction lifter drive is operatively connected to the suction lifter and the suction height, i.e. the spacing between the lifter and the top sheet on the sheet pile, may be adjusted with the suction lifter drive. The drive is a control cylinder which rotates around a cylinder axis and which is axially shiftable along the axis for the purpose of adjusting the suction height of the suction lifter.

5447300 - Feeder for a paper sheet-processing machine - Owned by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg,DE)

A feeder for a sheet-processing machine includes at least one lifting sucker carried by a suction head for lifting a paper sheet from a sheet pile, a device for taking over the lifted paper sheet and for conveying the paper sheet from the lifted position thereof above the sheet pile to a sheet-processing unit, a device for applying a continuously acting force potential upon the lifting sucker downwardly in a direction towards the sheet pile, a suction device for cyclically controllably raising the lifting sucker in a direction opposing the force potential, the suction device being disposed rotationally symmetrically with respect to an axis of the lifting sucker, and being controllable for maintaining the lifting sucker in the raised position thereof on the suction head.

5315348 - Automated photographic negative card holder

The present invention provides an improved device for transporting photographic negatives mounted on carrying cards to the optical stage of a photographic printer. A storage bin houses a plurality of the carrying cards prior to being transported to the optical stage of the printer. A first vacuum member releasably engages one of the carrying cards and transports that carrying card to a predetermined intermediate location. A second vacuum member operates to transport the carrying card between the intermediate position and the optical stage of the photographic printer. A third vacuum member operates to transport the carrying card from the predetermined intermediate position to a discharge bin. A secondary carrying card transport assembly is adapted to transport at least one carrying card having a secondary photographic negative mounted thereon to the same predetermined location to simultaneously transport multiple negatives to the optical stage of the printer.
