A hair setting gel composition comprising (A) from 0.2 to 5% by weight of a partially of completely neutralized salt of a crosslinked carboxyvinyl polymer, (B) from 0.5 to 10% by weight of an amphoteric resin, and (C) from 85 to 99.5% by weight of a solvent mainly comprising water and/or a lower alcohol, with the total of the components (A), (B) and (C) being 100% by weight. The gel composition is excellent in transparency and hair setting performance.
A hairdressing gel composition includes a blend of measured quantities of the following ingredients: water, alcohol, PVP/VA copolymer, glycerin, surfactants, tetrasodium EDTA, carbomer 940, triethanolamine, coconut oil, lanolin, and vitamin E. The surfactants are selected from the group consisting of methyl gluceth-20, myreth-3 laurate, ceteth-20. More specifically, the composition may include a blend of deionized water, SD alcohol 40, PVP/VA copolymer, clover blossom extract, bay laurel extract, carrageenan, glycerin, panthenol, dimethicone, methyl gluceth-20, myreth-3 laurate, ceteth-20, tetrasodium EDTA, carbomer 940, triethanolamine, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, styrene/acrylate copolymer, fragrance, FD&C Blue No. 1, D&C yellow No. 10, petrolatum, vegetable oil, pure coconut oil, olive oil, mineral oil, microcrystalline wax, lanolin, and vitamin E.
A skin or hair care composition in the form of an aqueous gel comprising a humectant, a water-soluble polyglycerylmethacrylate lubricant, a hydrophilic gelling agent and a polyethyleneglycol glyceryl fatty ester surfactant. The compositions provide improved moisturization, skin feel and skin care benefits, reduced tack and residue characteristics together with excellent visual clarity, rub-in and absorption characteristics.
The present invention relates to a quick set composition and a method for preparing the composition. The composition comprises an aqueous sol of a polymer having a backbone that contains pendant cationic groups and pendant acid groups. The sol is prepared by forming a solution of a polymer that contains pendant cationic groups and pendant acid groups in an aqueous-based solvent that contains water and a suitable organic solvent and removing a sufficient amount of the organic solvent from the solution to form a composition characterized by being reversibly dissolvable and reconstitutable by addition and removal of a suitable organic solvent. The composition of the present invention provides quick-set films that can be prepared in the absence additional surface active agents and with a substantial absence of organic solvents.

Substantially permanent or removable coatings can be prepared from a composition comprising a polymer dissolved or dispersed in a multicomponent medium that contains water, a low-boiling polar organic solvent, and a high-boiling point solvent. The polymer is characterized by containing structural units formed from the polymerization of a polymerizable strong cationic monomer, a polymerizable acid monomer, and optionally a non-interfering monomer. The composition forms a dust-free and tack-free film that can be removed by a combination of water and an organic solvent. The film can also be made resistant to organic solvents as well as acids and bases with the addition of a crosslinking agent to the composition.
