Abstract
A structure comprises uprights and connecting beams as well as wall panels and vertically spaced apart horizontal partitions inserted between said uprights and beams. To permit the structure to be assembled and disassembled without a need for tools, the wall panels are provided with vertical edge flanges, which extend into grooves formed in the uprights, the uprights are interlocked with the connecting beams, and the wall panels and horizontal partitions are held between upper and lower connecting beams against a vertical displacement.

5857304 - Slidable locking system for disengageable panels - Owned by Abex Display Systems (CA)

A system is disclosed for connecting a first panel to a second panel in a manner which aligns the first and second panels at the same vertical level with respect to each other. The first panel has a female connecting member provided along its vertical edge, and a channel disposed transverse to the vertical edge. The second panel has a male connecting member provided along its vertical edge, and a slot provided in the male connecting member. A sliding pin block is retained for sliding movement inside the channel of the first panel, the sliding pin block having a pin normally biased to extend through the female connecting member. The pin is fitted inside the slot of the male connecting member when the first and second panels are connected along their vertical edges to align the first and second panels at the same vertical level with respect to each other.

5743055 - Wall panel connector system - Owned by Hon Industries Inc. (Muscatine, IA)

A system for connecting wall panels in abutting edgewise relation, wherein abutting edges of the panels are formed with semi-circular recesses in them, includes pairs of spaced slots formed in the corners defining transverse semi-circular edges of the panel frames. Two connectors are provided having conical recesses for engaging the edges of the slots. The connectors are each fastened by a screw to an end of an elongate bar which fits within the recesses of the corners. When the connectors are fastened tightly to the bar, the engagement of the conical recesses with the corner edges draws the panels tightly together. By this system, the panels may be connected either in-line or at an angle of between 90 and 180 degrees, without the need for any special corner hardware.

6748710 - Partition trim having functional aspects - Owned by Steelcase Development Corporation (Caledonia, MI)

A partition and wall system includes a partition with trim piece(s) securely attached to a top edge and vertical side edges of the partition. One or both of the trim piece(s) have a T-slot running along their length, to which accessories can be secured by use of T-fasteners that extend into the slot and engage blind surfaces at a bottom of the slot. The accessories include such things as screens, hooks, lights, panels, shelves, wire managers, utility-using devices, and the like, and can be easily arranged by office workers in optimal and customized arrangements, thus improving efficiency and adding function and value to the office arrangement.

5852904 - Panel arrangement - Owned by Haworth, Inc. (Holland, MI)

This invention relates to a space-dividing wall panel system having a plurality of base panels which are serially connectable one with the other to define a vertically enlarged wall supported on a floor. Each base panel is defined by at least one horizontal box-beam rigidly connected to a pair of laterally spaced apart vertical uprights which are connected at the opposite ends of the box-beam and have a reduced thickness compared thereto. With this clearance between the faces of the box-beam and the uprights, the box-beam, cross rails at the ends of the uprights as well as additional extension panels are formed with longitudinally extending channels which are positioned free of interference with the vertical uprights and aligned with serially-adjacent channels of serially-adjacent wall panels. The channels provide a continuous linear track on the opposite sides of the upright which permit the connection of mounting hooks of furniture components and permit continuous, uninterrupted sliding or adjustment of the furniture components along the entire length of the aligned channels.

6807776 - Building outfitting system with common accessory-mounting feature - Owned by Steelcase Development Corporation (Caledonia, MI)

A prefabricated system for outfitting a building space includes an architectural product (such as a full-height permanent building wall, a post-and-beam product with overhead frame, and a drywall-covered wall), a furniture product (such as a partial-height wall, a partition, and a desking system), and a plurality of accessories. The architectural product includes a structural member with horizontal and vertical accessory-mounting T-slots, and the furniture product includes structural trim pieces with identical vertical and horizontal accessory-mounting T-slots. The plurality of accessories are constructed to stably engage any of the accessory-mounting slots at a selected location along the slots. Some accessories can be attached to and extend between the two products, such as an accessory screen that extends between a post of a post-and-beam system and an end of a partition system.
