A plurality of paint spray guns are directed substantially perpendicularly toward respective vertically divided surfaces of a side panel of a workpiece such as an automotive body. The paint spray guns are spaced in a direction in which the workpiece is delivered and being disposed at different heights, respectively. Paint sprays are ejected from the paint spray guns toward the workpiece which is being delivered in the direction. Simultaneously, the paint spray guns are displaced back and forth perpendicularly to the direction and substantially parallel to the surfaces of the side panel to coat the surface respectively with the paint spray guns, thereby coating the side panel.
A method of applying a metallic paint to an object conveyed by means of a conveyor, by reciprocating one or more rotary atomizing electrostatic painting machines at right angles to the direction in which the object is conveyed. The speed of the reciprocation of the painting machines is controlled according to the speed of the conveyor so that the pitch between the adjacent orbits of the strokes of the reciprocation of the machines drawn on the object may become a predetermined value.
An apparatus for demonstrating painting and/or mural-coating techniques comprising a cabinet (1) from which there projects an implement for application (paintbrush, roller, spatula, glove, pad, or the like) (4), which can be displaced with respect to a branch (7a) of a mat (7) set in a position corresponding to a front opening (6) of the cabinet (1), according to oblique, horizontal, vertical or circular passes in alternatingly opposite directions during horizontal alternating strokes, and subsequent stepwise vertical displacements at the end of each horizontal stroke.
The spacing between a paint applicator and an auto body surface can be measured by a tool that is screwable onto the applicator in place of the paint spray head. The measuring tool includes a mounting fixture and a deflectable wand having an effective length that corresponds to an optimum spacing between the auto body surface and paint applicator. The paint applicator can be calibrated (adjusted) while the measuring tool is affixed to the applicator. All paint applicators in the system can be calibrated by a single pass of an auto body through the paint booth in which the paint applicators are located.
An assembly for spraying a fluid along an orbital path generally consisting of a support member, an elongated member universally connected to the support member intermediate the ends thereof, a drive shaft having a crank arm mounted thereon for rotational movement therewith, a universal connection between the crank arm and the end of the elongated member and an opposite end of the elongated member having a fluid passageway provided with an inlet connectable to a fluid supply line and at least one outlet.
The present invention provides a positioning method and layout that can be used to dispose robots efficiently in an automobile painting and sealing line. This invention relates to the positioning of robots in an automobile painting line in which a downflow circulatory system is established. The main body of a sealing robot is positioned in a location at which it does not cause a large disruption in the downflow circulation along the side of an automobile body, and a robot for painting the under-surface of the floor of the automobile body is provided therebelow. Sealing and painting of the under-surface are performed in parallel.
