Abstract
A spray paint shield for manually protectively covering a portion of a wall or ceiling when the adjoining ceiling or wall portion, respectively, is being sprayed painted. The spray shield includes a generally flat, elongated sheet of thin, flexible material such as stainless steel or aluminum, having a straight distal or working edge and an elongated handle pivotally connected to, and extending from, the flat sheet at a mid point of the edge of the flat sheet opposite its distal edge. The handle is lockably positionable within the plane defined by the flat sheet at any convenient acute angle to the distal edge. A drip guard flange for collecting paint running on the working surface of the flat sheet and several embodiments of the locking mechanism are also provided.

A generally T-shaped paint shield formed of a flexible plastic such as high density polyethylene (HDPE). The paint shield includes straight edges of varying and variable lengths to allow it to be used for shielding a variety of surfaces. The paint shield includes left hand and right hand inside corner shields, and left hand and right hand outside corner shields. Preferably, the paint shield includes radiused corners for the left and right hand outside corner shields for accommodating the slight radius typically found on sheet rock, plaster, etc., wall constructions. Because of the inherent flexibility in the paint shield, it can be bent to conform to various wall configurations.

A spray shield for temporarily covering an open face of a fixture, particularly a canister light fixture. The spray shield is conveniently outlined on and removable from a panel of cardboard shelf packaging of the canister light. The spray shield provides a disk-shaped portion surrounded by radially extending tabs which can be bent off from to the disk-shaped portion to form a resilient shallow pan which is grippingly held within an inside surface of the canister light. The spray shield as a flat panel can be easily removed from a panel of the packaging which provides a weakened line around an outer circumference of the spray shield.

7121696 - Cover for recessed lighting fixture

A light cover for protecting recessed lighting fixtures from exposure to fluid during painting or other ceiling treatments has a shield, sized to fit over a baffle and an outer trim of a recessed lighting fixture, and a mounting flange sized to fit within the baffle and frictionally engage the light cover to the baffle. The light cover has a handle located on the shield and the handle is used to engage the flange to the baffle to secure the light cover to the recessed lighting fixture prior to a ceiling treatment. The handle is also used to disengage the flange from the baffle to remove the light cover from the recessed lighting fixture after completion of a ceiling treatment.
