A machining center having a bed that supports a work table, a carriage movable along the bed, an upright column moveable across the carriage, a machining head movable vertically on the upright column and a tool magazine with a tool changer. The bed is designed as an inclined bed with a downward slope toward the rear and the work table is mounted on the front side of bed by means of a suitable console.
A machine tool is provided where the support rigidity of the saddle is improved without increasing the height of the headstock. The machine tool includes a headstock situated on a fixed bed and a saddle having two different heights disposed on the fixed bed so as to be movable along a direction of an axis line of the headstock. A tool post is present on a column placed on the saddle so that the tool post is movable in a direction perpendicular to the axis line of the headstock. In this machine tool, the height of one portion of the saddle located toward the rear side of the tool is larger than the height of another portion of the saddle located toward the front side of the tool.
A machine tool more particularly for drilling and milling, possesses a machine bed, on which a power driven longitudinal slide is adapted to run horizontally on rails. A machining head having a rotary drive device for at least one table forming part of said head, is power moved on the longitudinal slide in at least one further direction of movement. The machine bed possesses two spaced lateral walls, whose intermediate space is designed to serve as a machining zone for receiving at least one work holding means. On the two lateral walls two parallel guide rails are arranged for the longitudinal slide, a third guide rail being arranged with an offset in the longitudinal direction between the two other guide rails. The longitudinal slide is guided using three guide elements on the three guide rails, the power drive being at or adjacent to the central guide rail. On this arrangement a clamping yoke of relatively light design may be employed, which only requires one central drive. Transverse forces caused by twisting in the case of eccentric loading act perpendicularly on the guide elements, which are accordingly better able to withstand the forces.
In a centre for machining workpieces, of the type comprising a machine frame, a machining table (6) for workpieces held on pallets (7) and a device (9) for pallet changing, it is proposed that the table (6) be arranged above the pallets (7), and the workpieces or a device (8) carrying the workpiece or workpieces project(s) downwards from the pallet during machining.
A milling and drilling machine for rod-shaped material. A motor-driven spindle head is movable on a column along a first coordinate axis and includes a work spindle capable of selectively accommodating milling and turning tools. A separating device transversely separates the rod-shaped material. A clamping device, disposed laterally alongside the workspace, has a workpiece holder with a clamping axis along a horizontal coordinate axis. A rotary drive is provided for the workpiece holder. The spindle head is pivotable about a Y axis at the front side of a headstock movable in the direction of the Y coordinate axis. The headstock is disposed on a motor-driven slide movable on the stationary column along an X coordinate axis parallel to the workpiece clamping axis. The clamping device is disposed on an inclined console located on the face of the column and movable along the Z coordinate axis in guides.
A program-controlled machine tool with automated tool changing, where the machine tool consists of a motor-driven machining unit with a working spindle that can be moved in at least one coordinate. The machine tool also includes a work table that can be driven by a motor in at least one coordinate, at least one tool magazine, and a programmable control unit. In order to be able to carry out tool changing operations without any auxiliary equipment, especially without a tool changer, within a short period of time, the tool magazine is mounted in a certain spatial arrangement with the working area of the machining unit so that its changing position can be approached directly by the working spindle in order to carry out the tool changing operation.
