A lubricant for skis, which comprises a fluorine compound containing a polyfluoroalkyl group and having a melting point of at most 100.degree. C., wherein the fluorine compound is at least one member selected from the group consisting of an alcohol containing a polyfluoroalkyl group, an ester containing a polyfluoroalkyl group and a polyfluoroalkyl ester polymer of (meth)acrylic acid.
A rolling sliding part is in relative rolling contact or sliding contact with a companion member, and is formed on a contact surface thereof with a lubricating film (5) composed of a polymer which contains fluorine with a functional group and in which particles (6) of polytetrafluoroethylene resin are dispersed and mixed. The lubricating film (5) exhibits a favorable lubricating property and generates little dust, and the particles (6) mixed in the film provide a favorable cushioning action under Loading. As the lubricating film (5) itself and the particles (6) are fluorine based, they provide for a good compatibility therebetween.
An information storage system is disclosed. The information storage system includes a rigid information storage medium, at least one read/write head, an actuator, and a lubricant. The read/write head comprises a transducer for information introduction and/or retrieval from the storage medium. The actuator supports at least one read/write head for moving the transducer relative to the storage medium. The lubricant which includes a perfluoroacrylate ester polymer is disposed on the surface of the storage medium.
Compounds which can be defined by the formula (I): wherein: n is a numeral comprised within the range of from 1 to 21; m is a numeral comprised within the range of from 3 to 25; n+m is a numeral equal to, or higher than, 18; with the chain of carbon atoms being either linear or branched are used as agents affording sliding characteristics (ski-waxes) for skis, to be applied onto the ski sole, and/or to be incorporated inside the ski sole. A sliding composition is also disclosed, which contains a paraffinic wax and at least one compound with formula (I).
This invention relates to formulations useful as lubricants for polyethylene snow sliders such as skis, snowboards and sleds. Lubricants of this type are comprised of i) waxes, ii) carbon fluorides of which the basic structure is represented by the formula CF.sub.x wherein x has values ranging from 0.1 to 1.2 and, iii) fluorinated additives of the formula wherein R.sub.f is independently a straight or branched perfluoroalkyl group; X is a direct bond, SO.sub.2 NH, SO.sub.2 N(R) wherein R is an alkyl group of up to six carbon atoms, or X is an alkylene group of up to ten carbon atoms interrupted by one or more --O--, --SO.sub.2 --, or --S-- groups; m is an integer from 4 to 30.
The invention relates to improved compositions comprising paraffin waxes and fluoropoylmer micro powders, and to their uses in products and articles where reduced friction is desirable, such as snow slider equipment.
