A bedding sheet assembly, particularly adapted for waterbeds but also usable with other types of mattresses, having a novel mattress belt (1), a first or bottom sheet (2), and a second or top sheet (3). The mattress belt (1) has sides (10) that fit around the perimeter of a mattress (4), a small lip on the bottom (8) to fit under the mattress and a top lip (9) to fit on top of the mattress along its sides. The top lip (9) of the mattress belt contains fastening material (7) for securing the bottom sheet thereto by matching fastening material (17) on the underside of the bottom sheet. A flap (12) attached to the foot end of the mattress belt has fastening material (11) for securing the top sheet (3) thereto. The bottom and top sheets may have ruffled flaps (25 and 18) to fit over the sides of the mattress belt to keep the mattress belt clean and attractive. In this manner the mattress belt does not have to be changed very often, therby allowing sheets to be changed merely by releasably detaching the bottom and top sheets (2 and 3) and quickly fastening new bottom and top sheets thereto. The mattress belt may be provided with one or more triangular release corners (15) to release the pressure when the mattress belt is changed.
In the preferred embodiment, mattress/hook and loop cover (70) has side panels (72) and (74), and end panels (76) and (78) which correspond and removably attach to crib mattress (44) side panels (46) and (48), and end panels (50) and (52). Crib sheet (22) has side panels (24) and (26), and end panels (28) and (30) which contain loop fasteners (40). Loop fasteners (40) are sized and positioned to removably attach to corresponding mating hook fasteners (96) along the side panels (72) and (74), and along the end panels (76) and (78) of mattress/hook and loop cover (70). Mattress pad (62) has single panel (64) which contains loop fasteners (68). Loop fasteners (68) are sized and positioned to mate with hook fasteners (96) in coordination with loop fasteners (40) of crib sheet (22).
An apparatus for use with a bed and bed sheet combination is disclosed. The apparatus is an extender sheet to be used in combination with an existing top sheet on a bed, with the extender sheet being removably attached to the top sheet. The purpose of the extender sheet is to make sure that the top sheet would not be removed, or become "untucked," during a sleeping period of an individual using a bed.
A bedsheet combination includes a bottom sheet having a foot end, a top sheet having a foot end, and a connector band of stretchable fabric secured between the bottom sheet and the top sheet to attach the foot end of the top sheet to the foot end of the bottom sheet. The connector band has a first edge attached to the foot end of the bottom sheet and has a second edge attached to the foot end of the top sheet. The connector band enables the foot end of the top sheet to be pulled away from the foot end of the bottom sheet while being urged to return in the direction of the foot end of the bottom sheet.
An easy-change mattress safety sheet system has a top panel that is completely removable and a bottom base that covers the underneath and four sides of a mattress. The base is designed to secure the top panel in place. The top and bottom panels are secured by a simple attaching means that covers the entire perimeter of the top plane of the mattress. The top panel can be completely removed from the base of the sheet by unfastening the simple attaching means. Removal of the top panel can be easily accomplished without disturbing the mattress, sheet base or crib bumpers. The sheet is secure on the mattress and will not allow entanglement of the child in the fabric.
The securing layer such as a fitted sheet is modified to provide one half of a fastener, such as a zipper, and a separable, absorbent panel as adapted to overlay the top surface of a mattress and to underlay and be in direct contact of the occupant on the mattress. The separable, absorbent panel includes another fastener portion, such as the other side of a zipper, so as to secure the absorbent panel to the securing layer. The first and second fastener portions are to be located on the side surface of the mattress at the top, outer circumference of the mattress when the securing layer is applied to the mattress. In this manner, the fastener cannot be easily accessed by an infant so as to prevent the infant from loosening and becoming entangled in the absorbent panel. However, the absorbent panel is easily removed for quick changes in case the occupant of the mattress, such as a baby, soils the absorbent panel.
