A noise baffle for reducing noise in rain gutter systems is provided. A screen or other perforated or fibrous surface is secured beneath a vertical downspout section and above the surface of an angled downspout section for reducing the noise caused by water striking the surface of angled downspouts. The screen eliminates or substantially reduces the noise by breaking the fall of the water falling in the vertical downspout section and dispersing the stream into tiny droplets which do not strike the bottom of the angled downspout section with sufficient force to create noise.
A rain gutter downspout noise attenuation apparatus is provided formed by a section of downspout made of sheet metal, or other suitable material, lined with artificial grass and a fastening screw or clip. The sheet metal, shaped in the form of a 160 degree angle, is designed as such that it easily fits into the base of the downspout, with the curve segment situating in the curve of the elbow.
A device for muffing the sound of water droplets falling onto an upper surface of the housing of an air conditioning unit that extends beyond the side of a building is disclosed. The muffling device comprises a plurality of screens of different fineness of mesh, and a frame for holding the plurality of screens arranged in a progressively finer parallel spaced-apart relationship. The device is secured to the housing of the air conditioning unit with the finest mesh screen closest to and in parallel relation with the upper surface of the housing.
