A cosmetic composition according to the present invention comprises: water, and emulsified and dispersed in the water: (1) a moisturizing component comprising: (a) hydrophilic microcapsules and (b) lipophilic microcapsules comprising: glycosphingolipids, phospholipids, cholesterol, at least one long-chain saturated fatty acid selected from the group consisting of myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and arachidic acid, squalane, a C.sub.10 -C.sub.30 carboxylic acid ester of a sterol selected from the group consisting of cholesterol, lanosterol, and mixtures thereof, and octyldodecanol; (2) a short-chain fatty acid ester of tocopherol; (3) a glyceryl ester complex; (4) Aloe vera gel; and (5) chamomile extract. Each of these ingredients is present in a cosmetically effective quantity. The proportion of hydrophilic microcapsules to lipophilic microcapsules in the moisturizing component is from about 2:3 to about 3:2. The composition preferably further comprises microcapsules comprising methylsilanol elastinate for firming activity, and can additionally comprise caffeine plus microcapsules comprising methylsilanol theophyllinacetate alginate and methylsilanol mannuronate for anti-cellulite activity, along with a number of plant extracts and plant extract-miscible components. A cosmetic composition according to the present invention can further comprise ancillary components.
Moisturizing cosmetic compositions for topical skin applications with an active component comprising a lipid mixture having approximately 1 part of specific mixed saturated fats, 1 part of specific monounsaturated fats, 0.25 parts of specific polyunsaturated fats, 4 parts of specific phospholipids, 2 parts of glycolipids and trace quantities of waxes and aminolipids. The formulated topical cosmetic products containing the lipid mixture impart moisturizing skin effects totally safe and highly efficacious. The proportions of lipids approximate those of the vernix.
A cosmetic skin cleanser based on natural active ingredients is disclosed. The cleanser comprises an aqueous non-oily suspension of microspheres of a polyoxymethlyene urea containing a natural liquid vegetable oil, and agents based on natural substances for moisturizing the skin. The agents could be aloe vera gel, jojoba oil, cetaryl glucosides, or a mixture of sarcosine, wheat amino acids and palmitic acid, and mixtures thereof, plus propylene glycol as an additional ingredient. The cleanser also includes one or more natural emulsifiers, natural cleansing substances and other excipients and vehicles.

When such a composition is topically applied the methyl nicotinate acts to increase circulation in the area of application and also acts as a pain reliever and a muscle relaxant. The composition may also contain various vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. The methyl nicotinate also acts as a facilitator to promote the transdermal penetration of the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients into the skin.
