The massage device is adapted to be applied to the skin. It is provided with at least two elements (2, 3) each mounted to rotate freely about an associated axis (4, 5) and each generally having the shape of a solid generated by rotation, each axis being connected to the support, the directions of the two axes forming between them an oblique angle beta. The oblique angle beta is between 60.degree. and 170.degree. and the rotating elements (2, 3) are made of a flexible material, and have raised portions the contact ends of which, adapted to be applied to the skin, are spaced in the axial direction and in the peripheral direction of the rotating element.
Apparatus for effecting colonic transit having a pad, defining a guide groove to overly the abdomen of a person, a roller, movable along the guide groove to apply pressure progressively along the groove to effect movement of colonic contents along the colon. The guide groove may be defined in a pad or may be defined by ridges extending outwardly of a member such as a pad. The roller may comprise a handle and a roller wheel, with the wheel preferably swivelly mounted relative to the handle.
Massaging device with double massaging functions, including a main body and at least one roller assembly including a roller pivotably disposed on a predetermined portion of the main body about a pivot shaft and a resilient member which is cylindrical and made of flexible material. The resilient member is fitted around the roller and has a top end and a body section. Multiple first and second protuberances are respectively formed on outer faces of the top end and body section of the resilient member. By means of rolling the roller assembly, the second protuberances in turn contact with and massage human skin to achieve a pressing type massaging effect. Alternatively, a user can hammer a part of human body with the first protuberances to achieve a hammering type massaging effect.
A method for performing trigger point therapy using a massage device having a spherical ball with an array of pliable nodes that project axially from the surface of the ball. The massage device can be manipulated by the user or a second person. Effective manipulation to the user's back and neck are achieved when the user places the device between himself and a rigid surface and rolls the ball at a trigger point location.
A blood pressure monitor includes a main unit casing placed on a table, a living body insert portion casing of an approximately cylindrical shape, positioned on the main unit casing in a non-use state and having a cuff arranged on its inner peripheral surface, the cuff having a hollow portion to which an upper arm of a subject is inserted, and a connection mechanism for connecting the living body insert portion casing with the main unit casing in a movable manner such that, upon application of the cuff to the subject, the living body insert portion casing can move to come closer to the subject than the main unit casing. Thus, a blood pressure monitor provided with an automatic cuff winding mechanism enabling measurement of blood pressure with high accuracy, not giving unnecessary pain to the subject, and allowing measurement with an unconstrained posture can be provided.
