A portable telephone of a type to which a plurality of subscriber numbers are registered comprises an air timer for measuring a calling period of time from start of calling and end of calling and a memory device for saving and integrating results of measuring by the air timer for each subscriber number. The portable telephone also includes a last call timer, a user timer and a system timer. The memory device includes a RAM. In the RAM, memory areas for the last call timer, user timer and system timer are provided for respective subscriber numbers. As a telephone communication is finished, a calling period of time measured by the air timer is saved in the last memory area to which the subscriber number just used is assigned and this calling period of time is also added up into the user timer memory area and/or system timer memory area for the just used subscriber number.
A cellular mobile station is operable in a telephone mode and a time data display mode. During the time display mode, the station constantly receives an area identifying code transmitted from a cellular mobile communications system. On crossing a boundary between adjoining cell-site areas, a time difference value is entered from a keypad into a location of a memory corresponding to the received code. This process is continued on a learning basis to store as many time difference values into the memory as there are cell-site areas along the route of a journey. Following the learning process, the station constantly receives an area identifying code and recalls one of the stored time difference data from the memory corresponding to a code received on crossing a boundary and modifies displayed timepiece data with the recalled time difference.
A telephone number display apparatus stores a plurality of telephone number information data and displays the telephone number information data on a plurality of display areas divided in correspondence with a predetermined number of telephone number information data. At least part of one display area of the plurality of display areas is displayed in a color different from that of a remaining display area.
A method of associating features, such as phone number directories, of a mobile communication module with individual NAMs in a communication module having a plurality of NAMs so as to provide accessibility to the directories based on the NAM activated for convenient and efficient access including the steps of establishing and comparing identification codes and further providing the option of changing phone number directories when changing NAMs or receiving the same NAM.
A method of delivering a telephone number associated with a telephone subscription to the user of a telephone set within the context of said subscription, use of said set requiring the user to provide subscription identification data stored in a data medium held by the owner of said subscription and co-operating with said telephone set. The telephone number is previously stored in the data medium and is transferred into the telephone set at the request of the user, to be delivered to the user of said set, in particular by displaying it on a screen. The invention is suitable for use in mobile telephony.
A telephone adaptively updates its speed dial memory. For example, the telephone updates the speed dial memory based on a calling history. An example of a calling history based update according to the invention is to add frequently called telephone numbers to the speed dial memory and to drop infrequently called telephone numbers from the speed dial memory. Another example is to order the telephone numbers in the speed dial memory based on the frequency with which they are called.
