A method of making the latex and sheet materials coated therewith.
An aqueous emulsion-type release coating composition comprising (i) a product produced by reaction of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer represented by the formula (1): ##STR1## wherein the sum of n, m and m' is an integer of 300-3,000, ratio of n/(n+m+m') is 0.1-0.9, and ratio of m/(m+m') is 0.9-1.0, with a C.sub.8-30 alkyl isocyanate, and (ii) a surface active agent which is a combination of a nonionic surface active agent having a hydrophilic-lyophilic balance (HLB) of not larger than 12, with an ionic surface active agent. The release coating composition is used as a release agent for a pressure sensitive adhesive tape or contact sheet.
The invention relates to a radiation curable composition comprising a mono or mulit valent carboxylic ester of a .beta.-hydroxyalkylamide group containing compound, in which the carboxylic ester is derived from an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid. A coating composition based on this composition has a high rate of polymerisation and shows the desired chemical and mechanical properties.
A waterborne latex polymer composition having latex particles comprising (1) about 25 to about 75 weight percent of a first monomer, wherein the first monomer is at least one free-radically polymerizable long chain alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer; (2) about 75 to about 25 wt % of a second monomer, wherein the second monomer is a short alkyl chain (meth)acrylate monomer, wherein the alkyl group contains less than about 12 carbon atoms and the second monomer may be a mixture comprising; i) none, one or more (meth)acrylic acid monomers; ii) none, one or more vinyl nitrile monomers; and iii) none, one or more (meth)acrylic ester monomers, with the provisio that the second monomer mixture comprises at least one of (meth)acrylic acid monomer, vinyl nitrile monomer, and (meth)acrylic ester monomer and a method of making the latex particles.
A polymer includes an ethylene-containing backbone having substituents attached thereto, wherein the substituents include a urethane linked nitrogen-bonded hydrocarbon side chain having about 5 carbon atoms or more in length and a terminal methyl group; and an oxygen linked water solubilizing group. The polymer is particularly useful in a release coating composition and is suitable for forming films from aqueous dispersions thereof, organic solvent dispersions thereof, or mixtures thereof.
An article including: a porous substrate that includes a fibrous material; and a release coating disposed on the fibrous material of the porous substrate; wherein the release coating includes a thermoplastic silicone-containing polymer. A method of making an article, which method includes: providing a porous backing having a first major surface and a second major surface; applying a pressure sensitive adhesive to the first major surface of the porous backing; and applying an aqueous dispersion including a thermoplastic silicone-containing polymer to the second major surface of the porous backing to form a low adhesion backsize.
