An information engineering writer's tool uses stored common, semi-common and unique information objects to build audience specific documentation, including specific instruction manuals. A recursive processing program retrieves and sorts called information objects a first time and then sorts the contents for nested calls to other information objects. Each information object is stored a single time. Recall of nested information objects is desirably limited to a single time for each printing or previewing of constructed documents.
A system includes a central processing unit, a bus and circuit. The central processing unit is coupled to the bus and segments an image into at least one text region and at least one graphics region. At least one of the circuit modules is associated with the processing of the text region(s), and at least one of the circuit modules is associated with the processing of the graphics region(s).
Using the character processing method having a plurality of processing schemes, character patterns are outputted in a plurality of windows using any of the processing schemes. The requirements of each window are discriminated, a processing scheme suited to a particular window is selected from the plurality of processing schemes in response to the requirements, and a character or graphic processed by the processing scheme selected for the window is outputted for each and every window.
An apparatus for producing a series of electronic forms that are related to completing a task. The apparatus includes a computer system in which one or more databases are stored. The computer system displays a list of tasks that can be selected by a customer service representative. Each task has associated with it a series of forms that must be completed. Each form includes a plurality of fields, each of which has an associated database. A code segment associated with each field processes data as it is entered into the field and stores the data in the field's associated database. The system also provides a task map indicating the forms that must be completed to finish a given task, as well as the forms that have already been completed.
An information processing apparatus includes a composition device for composing document data, graphic data and image data. The document data to be composed is stored in a storage device in a form that is independent of the capacity of an output device. An output control device converts, in accordance with the capacity of the output device, the stored document data upon output to the output device, and controls the output device for outputting the converted document data.
A method for internationalizing a markup document includes detecting a localization tag in the document, retrieving localization information from the document which is associated with the localization tag, searching a translation file for a localized value associated with the localization information, and replacing the localization tag in the document with the localized value found in the translation file. The localization information includes any one or more of a localization attribute, a default localization value, and a value corresponding to an automatic transcription function. A system for internationalizing the markup document includes a first storage unit which stores the markup document, a second storage unit which stores the translation file, and a localization tool which localizes the markup document stored in the first storage unit based on information in the translation file stored in the second storage unit. The localization tool may be implemented in software using, for example, a dynamic code generation language.
