The invention provides a method for improving the oral bioavailability of carbamazepine by administering per os, to a warm-blooded animal in need of carbamazepine therapy, a therapeutically effective amount of carbamazepine complexed with cyclodextrin selected from the group consisting of hydroxypropyl and hydroxyethyl derivatives of .beta.- and .gamma.-cyclodextrin.
The invention relates to a novel advantageous process for the preparation of an oral solid dosage form containing diclofenac or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The dosage form is obtainable by direct compression of an inclusion compound consisting of diclofenac, or a salt thereof, with .gamma.-cyclodextrin. The inclusion compound itself is novel and is likewise an object of the invention.
The invention is concerned with a parenteral formulation comprising a 5H-dibenz(b,f)azepine-5-carboxamide and an aqueous-based solvent. The parenteral formulation is useful in the treatment of seizures resulting from, e.g. epileptic attack.
The present invention relates to a ready-to-use indomethacin eye lotion comprising, in aqueous solution: indomethacin, a .beta.- or .gamma.-cyclodextrin etherified with C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 hydroxyalkyl groups, the cyclodextrin being present in a molar ratio with respect to the indomethacin of at least 10/1, and the pH of the solution being from 4.0 to 6.0.
The invention is concerned with a parenteral formulation comprising a 5H-dibenz(b,f)azepine-5-carboxamide and an aqueous-based solvent. The parenteral formulation is useful in the treatment of seizures resulting from, e.g. epileptic attack.
A process is described for preparing pharmaceutical compositions by co-grinding or dry mixing the active substance with cyclodextrins or with hydrophilic polymer materials which swell on contact with water. Homogeneous compositions are obtained from which the active substance is released very rapidly into an aqueous medium.
