A telescopically-expandable horizontal brace that has two ends adapted for secure coupling to the hanger brackets of a conventional wheelchair. Because of its telescopic construction, the brace collapses when the wheelchair is folded shut, thus permitting its normal utilization and storage without removal of the brace. Utility openings and hooks are provided along the length of the brace for attaching bodily-fluid discharge containers and other utility items thereto.

A foot-operated propulsion apparatus for a wheelchair and/or other selected devices such as desk chairs and furniture. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a support structure coupled to the selected device and having at least one roller aperture. A roller element having a circular cross-sectional shape is received in the roller aperture and is rotatable relative to the support structure about a rotation axis or a plurality of rotation axes. The roller element has a first external portion projecting upwardly from the aperture to engage the user's foot and a second external surface portion projecting downwardly through the aperture to engage the ground or other support surface. As the user engages the roller element and rotates the element by foot, the propulsion apparatus and the device to which it is coupled move along the ground. The user can directly engage the roller element or can engage a brake device coupled to the roller element to slow the propulsion device.

A walker adapter used to prevent an individual's legs from crossing while using a walker to enhance ambulatory skills, the walker adapter comprising an adjustable main member having opposite ends, a posterior attachment mechanism secured at a right angle to one end of the adjustable main member, and an anterior attachment assembly secured at the opposite end thereof. A posterior clamp secured to the posterior attachment is affixed to a rear cross brace of the walker, and anterior clamps which are secured to the anterior attachment assembly are affixed to front vertical members of the walker, so that the walker adapter extends between the legs of the individual and prevents the individual's legs from crossing while walking with the walker.

A suspension for a vehicle is provided. The suspension includes, for example, a frame and a releasable locking assembly. The releasable locking assembly has, for example, a first assembly movably coupled to the frame, a second assembly movably coupled to the frame, and wherein movement of the frame relative to the first and second assemblies causes the first and second assemblies to engage each other to limit further movement of the frame in at least a first direction.

A suspension for a vehicle is provided. The suspension includes, for example, a frame and a releasable locking assembly. The releasable locking assembly has, for example, a first assembly movably coupled to the frame, a second assembly movably coupled to the frame, and wherein movement of the frame relative to the first and second assemblies causes the first and second assemblies to engage each other to limit further movement of the frame in at least a first direction.
