Disclosed is an improved indicator, which includes a scale plate having a pointer rotatably mounted thereon; an ultraviolet light source for illuminating said scale plate; and indicia arranged on the scale plate for indicating a specific value in cooperation with the pointer, each of the indicia including first and second parts, and in which the second part includes fluorescent brightener ink or paint therein so as to be illuminated when the ultraviolet light source is turned on. When the ultraviolet light source is turned on, particularly at night, the second parts of the indicia will become visible so that the visibility of the indicia is changed from the daylight condition in which the light source is turned off. Namely, an interesting design change of the indicia of the indicator can be obtained.

A beverage server comprises a container having a top, a bottom, and side walls joined so as to form a water-tight vessel. The container has a fill opening in the top thereof that provides access to the interior of the container. The container also has a spout formed through a side wall of the container and opening onto the fill opening formed into the top and a handle connected to a side wall of the container opposite the spout. A lid having a top with a skirt wall depending downwardly therefrom is constructed and arranged to be received within the fill opening of the container. The skirt wall has a pour opening formed therethrough that may be aligned with the spout formed through the sidewall of the container to allow liquids to be poured from the beverage server. The lid is rotatable between three positions: a first, open/close position; a second, closed position; and a third, pouring position.
An indicating device in a vehicle that supplies complementary information to the driver of the vehicle. The device is provided with at least one scale for displaying basic information on an index disc. The index disc includes indicators arranged in close connection with and in relation to individual indexes of the scale and arranged as individually controllable light sources for indicating complementary information, which is relatable to the scale. The scale is arranged so that the basic information includes the vehicle speed and the complementary information of a relative speed to a vehicle in front.
A display device for use in a vehicle includes display lamps for displaying various states, and a centralized control substrate on which electronic parts for driving the display lamps are mounted. The centralized control substrate is extended backwardly of the display lamps in a direction to visually recognize the display lamps.
An instrument panel assembly (10) having a transparent intermediate substrate (42) inside its housing (16) on which is applied a phosphor coated indicia (40) for giving the appearance of a depth dimension when energized by a UV light source (36). Multiple intermediate substrates (42, 48) can be positioned at different level within the interior region of the housing (16), each containing various indicia (40, 46, 56, 58) which emits luminescent light when irradiated by the UV light source (36). Multiple UV light sources (36, 52) can be set to project UV radiation of different wavelengths into the housing (16) with each of the phosphor coated indicia (40, 46, 56, 58) being selected from material types which are responsive to only one of the various UV wavelengths, so that each indicia (40, 46, 56, 58) can be selectively energized to display warnings, information messages, or the like.
