Abstract
A liquid applicator is provided which is particularly useful in applying preoperative surgical scrubs or paints to skin. The liquid is contained in a frangible ampoule inside the body of the applicator. This ampoule is supported and protected by a deformable element that prevents unintentional breakage of the ampoule from impacts during storage and handling before use. The applicator is actuated by pushing at least a portion of the frangible ampoule through an aperture in the deformable element and into contact with a means for breaking the ampoule.

6047865 - Gas capsule and gas delivery system - Owned by The BOC Group plc (Windlesham,GB)

A capsule for storing a fluid, for example helium, under pressure comprises a hollow body from which extends a hollow neck. A stopper engages with the neck in a fluid tight manner. The stopper includes a main hollow portion and a stem extending outwardly from the main hollow portion. The root of the stem where it joins the main hollow portion forms a frangible section which, when broken, will allow fluid in the capsule to escape under pressure.

6039488 - Breakable ampule, swab and cap for scent material - Owned by Louisiana Bucks Unlimited, L.L.C. (Monroe, LA)

A dispenser and applicator for animal scent material and a method of dispensing animal scent directly into the air and/or applying animal scent to surfaces includes a generally cylindrical shape-sustaining flexible casing, a generally cylindrical breakable ampule having a quantity of liquid scent material therein. A porous plug applicator swab closes an open end of the casing and a dispensing cap is mounted on the casing in enclosing relation to the open end of the casing and the projecting end of the porous plug. The liquid scent material is applied by placing the dispensing cap on the closed end of the casing and breaking the ampule by squeezing opposite sides of the cap and casing to deform the casing wall inwardly to break the ampule. The scent material is absorbed by the porous plug applicator swab and the swab can apply the liquid scent material to surface areas. The liquid scent material can also be dispensed directly into the air by retaining the dispensing cap on the open end of the casing and breaking the ampule for absorption by the dispensing cap from the porous plug applicator swab. The scent material can be the urine of the male or female of an animal species which attracts a male and/or female of the animal species and covers or masks human scent to enable a hunter to more effectively attract hunted animals to a hunting site.

6729786 - Liquid applicator for coloring a liquid - Owned by Mediflex Hospital Products, Inc. (Overland Park, KS)

Applicators and a method of coloring a liquid. More specifically, the present invention relates to a liquid applicator having a flexible hollow body within which a liquid-filled, glass ampoule is received. The liquid applicator also has porous element containing colorant positioned such that when the ampoule is fractured, the liquid flows through the porous element containing colorant. Colorant is transferred to the liquid as it flows through the porous element. The resulting colored solution may be applied to the desired surface.

5699936 - Liquid dispensing system - Owned by Sercomp Corporation (Chatsworth, CA)

A liquid container/dispenser including a container body defining a flexible wall for storing a liquid and a tube member having a first end portion placed outside the container body and a second closed end portion placed inside the container body. The tube member has an opening device provided in the second closed end portion of the tube member inside the container body. The second closed end portion can be broken off from the rest of the tube member inside the container body by a force applied through the wall of the container body. The wall of the container body is preferably made from a flexible material so that the wall can be flexibly brought into contact with the tube member inside the container. The liquid container with the novel dispensing system assures the sealed storage of liquid in the container and yet facilitates clean, quick and safe dispensing of the liquid.

5595223 - Ink refilling assembly - Owned by Mitsubishi Pencil Corporation of America (Chatsworth, CA)

An ink refill adapter to be used for refilling a used ink cartridge with ink from a separate ink container. The ink refill adapter includes a support plate and a conduit extending through the support plate. When the ink refill adapter is placed on the used cartridge, the ink container and the ink cartridge are brought into full engagement via the adapter so that the ink in the ink container flows down by gravity into the conduit and further into the cartridge. The ink refill adapter is designed so as to form an air escape between the adapter and the cartridge so as to let the air inside the cartridge go out smoothly as the ink flows in and is further provided with a safety cap that has an ink absorbing material.
