A method of making a coated abrasive article having an electrically conductive backing is taught, wherein electrically conductive material is incorporated into a coated abrasive backing. The coated abrasive article made by this method has a reduced tendency to accumulate static electric charge in the abrasive article during abrading of a workpiece.
A flexible abrasive member comprising a first porous layer of mesh, non-woven or perforated sheet, conductive or non-conductive material to which on one side deposits are deposited by way of any metal plating technique of either the electrolytic, electroless or vacuum deposition type, or any galvanic process, abrasive particles being embedded in the metal deposits, a layer of filling material, such as a resin, being present between the deposits which filling material is bonded to said first porous layer and/or the deposits, and at least a second porous layer of mesh, non-woven or perforated sheet, conductive or non-conductive material being present and being laid substantially along one side of the first porous layer. The side edge of the deposit has at least one annular groove along at least part of the circumference of the deposit.

Apparatus and method for grinding levelling of paper, cardboard or a similar continuous web manufactured from vegetative based fibrous raw-material, said apparatus comprising a plurality of grinding means such as rolls or belts preferably arranged on both sides of the web, said means being deviated from the moving direction of the web or the web being deviated from these by means of squeeze rolls and which rolls are characterised by being trioelectrically charged with a similar electrical charge as the ground surface. The web tension can be regulated by moving the grinding means or the web from its direction of movement and the dust generated at the grinding is removed by a vacuum system.
Abrasive articles that comprise a plurality of abrasive particles, a plurality of erodible agglomerates, and an abrasive binder are described. The erodible agglomerates comprise a plurality of grinding aid particles adhered together by a binder comprising a lignosulfonate.
A method of preparing an electroconductive foam, and the foam so prepared. An electroconductive polymer such as polyaniline is dispersed in a liquid medium that includes an aromatic solvent such as xylene and an organic dopant/dispersant such as an aromatic sulfonic acid. The electroconductive polymer together with the organic dopant/dispersant constitute between 10% and 25% of the resulting dispersion. The dispersion is introduced to the pores of an electrically insulating foam matrix such as polyurethane. Excess dispersion is expelled and the foam is dried actively, to line the pores with an electroconductive lining.
