A crutch harness assembly including a belt element adapted to be secured around a waist of the user, two loop-like strap elements connected to the belt element and each adapted to surround and engage a respective upper leg portion, and a strap means connected to each of the loop-like strap elements and adapted for engaging a corresponding crutch adjacent the upper end of said crutch.
An apparatus enabling disabled persons to walk, comprising a rigid elliptic jacket (1) abutting against and supported by wearer's pelvis, attached to the movement direction change mechanism (2), open in its rear portion and provided with a lock (4), whereas on vertical members of the rectilinear movement mechanism (3) there are mounted cylindrical shank clamps (5), each having open rear portion, and skids (7) rigidly attached to foot supporting platforms (6), constituting lowermost members of the rectilinear movement mechanism; the skids (7) resting on surface of available walkway.
An elastic band which can be removably attached around a person has two straps attached which am located at the person's sides so that the upper portions of under-arm crutches can be secured by the straps to hold the crutches from falling away while allowing free movement of the person's arms and torso.
An improved exercise device including two exercise poles, each having an upper segment secured via an articulating joint to the upper body and a lower segment which is slidably connected to the upper segment. The lower segment includes a hand support or hand grip. A vest with an integral harness includes left and right side articulating joints providing a selected amount of friction. Preferably, each joint includes a cylindrical molded hub with two opposed transversely projecting bayonet lugs; the hub is received within a collar affixed at the proximal end of an upper pole segment and having a circular aperture ringed by an inwardly projecting annular flange with two opposed grooves adapted to receive the two hub bayonet lugs. The hub and collar are separable and are joined by aligning the hub bayonet lugs with the collar flange grooves whereupon the hub may be inserted coaxially within the collar, thereby projecting the hub lugs beyond the opposing surface of the inwardly projecting annular flange. The collar (and attached upper segment may then be rotated around the axis of the hub to rotatably secure the collar onto the hub. The upper segment is slidably and rotatably connected to the lower segment allowing the lower segment to be twisted and moved rectilinearly relative to the upper segment. The lower segment is terminated at the bottom in an elastomeric pole tip for absorbing shock.
A seat suspended between two crutches in the manner of a sling, to provide the user of the crutches with a place to rest. The seat is attached to both crutches of a pair of crutches used by an individual needing crutches. The seat is attached by one or more adjustable straps and/or release clips. The seat allows the user to rest his body weight on the seat thereby relieving the arms of the user without placing weight on the lower limbs. The crutches are fully usable in the normal manner for walking while the seat is attached and suspended from the crutches. The seat hangs below and behind the user when the crutches are used by the user for walking. The feet of the crutched are placed adjacent one another, while the tops of the crutches are spread apart to raise the seat into a usable height, while providing a stable base for supporting the user. The crutches are then angled slightly forward with the tops of the crutches in front of the user and the crutch feet behind the user. The user then lowers his weight onto the suspended seat and maintains his balance with his feet touching the ground. To continue walking, the user leans forward out of the crutches and shifts his weight to his arms.
A crutch sling assembly for use with a pair of crutches. The crutch sling assembly comprising a sling seat for engaging at least one of a buttock and crotch area of a sling user and supporting a portion of the weight of a user of said crutch sling assembly. Intermediate portions of the first and second elongate straps are connected to the sling seat. The first and second elongate straps each have an attachment mechanism for connecting each one of the first elongate strap and the second elongate strap to one of a pair of crutches.
