An apparatus for applying weld metal for the purpose of hard-facing of metal plates and a method of operation of the apparatus. A metal plate is moved through an apparatus in which there are weld heads including welding electrodes. The metal plate has a slight induced convexity in the region of the welding heads so that an accurate distance is maintained between the welding electrode and the surface of the metal plate. The convexity is formed by a wheel assembly under the plates and the wheel assembly may also include cooling means. The advantage of the flat plate system is that long lengths of plate may be hard-faced.
The present invention relates to a new type of lining with two layers, one of which, obtained by welding deposit, can be used for the protection of internal surfaces of chemical equipment capable of abide pressures lower than 100 MPa, in processes for the direct synthesis of urea. The present invention also relates to an original method for the preparation and installation of this lining, by the assembly of laminar elements with two layers, obtained by welding deposit on relatively thin stainless steel plates, so as to avoid significant distorsion effects on the plate itself.
A materials transport container having a floor and two opposed upwardly extending side walls and a front wall. The container is supported to enable tilting for unloading of material from a rear end. The container has a substantially continuous and smooth hard faced surface on a rear portion of the floor adjacent the rear end to enhance sliding of its load over the smooth hard faced surface. Additionally arcuate surfaces bridging a junction between one or more of the front and side walls and the floor of the container to reduce hangup of material. The arcuate surfaces are smooth hard faced surfaces. The hard faced surfaces are provided by removable wear plates with gaps between then to allow flexion and ease of removal. It is found with use these hard faced wear plates become polished and greatly assist with the removal of material from the transport container.
Concave portions and convex portions are formed on a peripheral surface of a thin metal sheet by applying a pressing force thereto while the metal sheet is being embossed; pores are each formed on an apex of each of the concave portions and convex portions and burrs each projecting outward from a peripheral edge of each of the pores are generated by the pressing force; the metal sheets having the concave portions and convex portions formed thereon are layered on each other; the burr at the apex of each convex portion of a lower-layer metal sheet is interlocked with the burr at the apex of each concave portion of an upper-layer metal sheet adjacent to the lower-layer metal sheet to integrate the metal sheets with each other; and an active substance is charged into spaces between the upper-layer metal sheet and the lower-layer metal sheet through an aperture at the apex of each of the concave portions and convex portions.
