Abstract
The present invention provides a frame that supports a pair of simulator skis above a floor surface. Rear ski ends are pivotally mounted to a rear ski support in rolling contact with a track surface on a rear frame portion. Front ski ends are pivotally mounted to a front ski support in rolling contact with the floor surface. Non-parallel, equal length bars are disposed on opposite sides of the pair of skis, extending from rear bar ends pivotally mounted to the base to front bar ends pivotally mounted to the front ski support.

6019709 - Striding exerciser with adjustable upwardly curved tracks

A curved track striding exercise device includes a movable track assembly wherein the curved tracks can be rotatably inclined or declined relative to the base, to simulate either an uphill or downhill striding arrangement. The striding exercise device includes an arcuate track assembly including a pair of spaced elongated, parallel tracks which curve upwardly in an arc, a pair of foot skates respectively movably supported on the parallel tracks for receiving the feet of an operator thereon, and a base assembly for supporting the arcuate track assembly. The track assembly is cradled within the base and is slidably rotatable relative to the base about a pivot point which is located above the base. Rotation of the track assembly is guided in a plane which is generally parallel to the tracks, whereby the track assembly is selectively movable between a first angular position wherein the tracks are inclined relative to the supporting surface to simulate uphill striding, and a second angular position wherein the tracks are is declined relative to the supporting surface to simulate downhill striding.

5895340 - Training device especially adapted for use in teaching techniques for snow boarding, skiing and the like

A training device for use in teaching techniques for snow boarding, skiing, and the like, includes a carriage including two spaced vertical posts. A tubular arcuate track extends between the posts and forms a segment of a circle lying in an inclined plane. An elongated support member formed, for example, in the shape of a snow board or skis, is secured adjacent a first, lower end to the carriage by a ball and socket mechanism. A guide roller assembly mounted for pivotal movement on the bottom surface of the support member allows a user to move the support member along the arcuate track and to incline the support member from side to side, simulating the edging techniques used in the actual turning of skis or a snow board. A plurality of rollers mount the carriage for translational movement along a linear guide path. An electric or hydraulic system connected to a cable and pulley drive mechanism translationally moves the carriage along the guide path in response to detection of edging or inclination of the support member by a sensor, simulating the actual movement of skis or a snow board across a slope in response to left or right edging.

6561955 - Machine-assisted exercising - Owned by Concept II, Inc. (Morrisville, VT)

An exercise machine in which a fan has a rotor that generates drag by causing air to move in response to exercising by a user. A deflection structure deflects air that the rotor has moved and is adjustable to control the amount of drag generated by the rotor.

5632710 - Exercise apparatus - Owned by Roadmaster Corporation (Olney, IL)

An exercise apparatus comprising a frame, a pivot arm mounted on the frame, a resistance mechanism, preferably an elastomeric torsion member, and a positioning element which allows the pivot arm to be pivotally adjusted with respect to the frame, independent of the resistance element, so as to vary the neutral position of the pivot arm. The preferred embodiment may also comprise a shaft mounted to the frame for conveying torque to the elastomeric torsion member and a support arm mounted to the frame to oppose rotation of the elastomeric torsion member about the shaft. In one embodiment, the exercise apparatus takes the form of a weight bench. In a second embodiment, the exercise apparatus is a home gym. In a third embodiment, the exercise machine comprises a frame, a pivot arm pivotally mounted on the frame, the pivot arm having a neutral position, the pivot arm configured to be moveable alternatively by the front and the back of a user's body, and at least one resistance member connected to the pivot arm for creating bidirectional resistance to movement of the pivot arm. In the third embodiment the machine preferably also comprises a seat, for supporting a user rotatably connected to the frame. The invention also includes the method of using the machine to perform various exercises.
