An in bed infant scale for use with an infant care center and which may be slid underneath the infant platform of the infant care center while the infant is positioned within the center and which causes little disruption to the infant. The infant scale is thus movable from infant care center to infant care center conveniently. The infant scale is easily slid into the infant care center and raises the infant platform on which the infant is positioned such that the infant platform is raised off of its position on its supporting frame and becomes fully supported on the infant scale. Thus the infant scale can weigh the infant platform and the infant resting on that infant platform.
An infrared radiant heater for use in an infant warmer open care bed. The heater includes a curved reflector within a similarly shaped housing. Between the reflector and casing is at least one baffle made of a heat insulating material. The baffle divides the inside of the housing into a number of separate insulating air gaps. In order to ensure that heat is not conducted through the head, spacers protrude from the housing to support the baffles at their required positions maintaining heat insulating air gaps between the heater head components.
An open care bed or infant warmer having a mattress supported on a mattress base cantilevered from a columnar or vertically disposed "back bone". The column carries an infrared radiant heater head at its upper end which directs heat down towards the mattress. The lower end of the column sits on a base of the infant warmer which is provided with castors for transporting the warmer. The mattress base comprises a box like frame over which a sheet is stretched to provide tensioned support for a mattress. The sides of the mattress base are provided with fold down side walls which are normally retained in a vertical position but are lowerable to a horizontal position, by free falling under the control of a friction controlled damping axle configuration. Adjustment of the angle of inclination of the mattress base is made possible by the use of a non-parallel arm type system providing a virtual pivot point for the mattress base which may be positioned near the center of the mattress.
A refrigerator with weighing scale includes a refrigerator and a weighing scale. The refrigerator includes a chamber with top, bottom, front, rear, side surfaces, and a control board, and the weighing scale is attached to the bottom surface of the refrigerator. The weighing scale is retractable from under the bottom surface of the refrigerator. The weighing scale includes a digital scale. The digital scale includes a stepping pad and a display for showing the weight. The display of the digital scale is disposed on the control board of the refrigerator, and the display is electronically connected to the remaining portion of the digital scale. The display on the control board of the refrigerator is turned on by stepping on the stepping pad of the weighing scale, by a control switch provided on the control board, or by being pulled out from under the bottom surface of the refrigerator.
A patient-support apparatus having an overhead arm located over a patient support mounted on a base, a canopy mounted to the overhead arm and supported over the patient support by the overhead arm, and a mounting assembly for attaching the overhead arm to the base, including an alignment mechanism to properly align the overhead arm with respect to the patient support, wherein the alignment mechanism has at least two relatively movable members, which moveable members are also relatively movable with respect to the overhead arm and the base and are fixedly secured to each other, the overhead arm and the base after alignment of the overhead arm relative to the patient support.
An infant warming apparatus for supporting an infant upon an infant bed. The apparatus has a sensor that is affixed to the skin of the infant to detect one or more physiological functions of the infant. A transmitter is located within the enclosure of the sensor and which transmit the information detected by the physiological sensor to a receiver that is located on the infant care apparatus and which can then convert that information into a recognizable or usable medium. An alternative embodiment includes the transmitter located proximate to the infant within an infant scale located beneath the infant. The sensor is hardwired to the transmitter in the infant scale and signals relating to weight and/or a condition of the infant are transmitted by wireless telemetry to a monitor or other display device to display that information to the caregiver.
