A system and method for automatic weapon allocation and scheduling of the present invention. The inventive method includes the steps of providing data with respect to threats, weapons, weapon allocation options; weapon allocation rules; and temporally dependent constraints with respect thereto; evaluating the data; and temporally allocating the weapons to the threats automatically in accordance with the evaluation. The invention computes the optimal pairing and the best time to deploy each weapon system against threat(s) it is paired with in arriving at the pairing. This results in an optimal assignment where weapon resource constraints are not exceeded and therefore guarantee availability of sufficient resources for engagement of every threat that is paired with a weapon system.

A data management system for obtaining data, relating to the maintenance and performance of an asset, processing the data and delivering it to an end user. A predetermined data set is collected and transmitted, and stored. The data are reconfigured into a predetermined format. An end user interface allows an end user to read the reconfigured data. Also provided is a computer apparatus for the management of data relating to the maintenance and performance of an asset, which generates a graphical user interface on a display screen. The graphical user interface consists of a data packet containing at least one data input section with at least one data field. Each section contains a text field which is capable of receiving, reading, and uniquely identifying hand written text.

An investment optimizing system and method. Once an investor or investment advisor determines the appropriate asset allocation and that there are both taxable accounts and tax-deferred investment accounts, the invention will optimize/maximize the investor's ending after-tax asset accumulation, which is the objective of all investors. This is accomplished by allocating the chosen investment vehicles between the taxable and tax-deferred accounts in an optimum way. The invention runs on a computer system and searches for an allocation which results in a maximal return. Intelligent heuristics measure increased performance based on different asset allocations.

A system, method and computer program product are provided for modeling a force structure. The method of one embodiment generally includes defining a plurality of units of action. The method also includes determining, for each unit of action, a plurality of measures of utility, such as for lethality, knowledgeability, mobility, survivability, deployability, supportability and/or affordability. In this regard, at least one measure of utility has a maximization objective and at least one measure of utility has a minimization objective. After determining the measures of utility, the units of action can be compared based upon the objectives of the plurality of measures of utility of each unit of action. Then, based upon the comparison, at least one optimal unit of action can be identified to thereby model the force structure.

A device and method for distributing time available on a processor among two or more alternative tasks or threads and scheduling their execution. Each of the tasks specifies multiple levels of time usage on the process under which it can operate, including a best quality of service which uses the most time and a minimal quality of service which uses the least time. The invented system and method guarantees that each task will always be able to run at least its minimal quality of service and includes methods for obtaining optimal quality of service from all of the tasks.
