Abstract
An electronics chassis, preferably a personal computer ("PC") power supply chassis, having a construction free of secondary fabrication operations and a method of manufacture therefor. The chassis comprises: (1) a bendable chassis sheet having a central portion forming a chassis base wall and a plurality of peripheral portions bent with respect to the central portion to form chassis side walls, edges of the side walls having projections interlocking with corresponding projections on edges of the side wall to fix the side walls with respect to the side wall as against lateral displacement, the bendable chassis sheet thereby forming a chassis portion having an opening therein, (2) a second bendable chassis sheet mated to the first chassis sheet and covering the opening, the second chassis sheet having a portion forming a chassis cover wall and a second portion bent with respect to the portion to form a fourth chassis side wall, side edges of the cover wall and outer edges of the side walls having interlocking projections and recesses preventing the side walls from separating from the cover wall, (3) structures for removably attaching a cover wall to an outer edge of the second wall and a side wall to a base wall.

5587881 - Power supply chassis for personal computers

A power supply chassis for personal computers includes a bottom plate, a first wall plate defining a rail horizontally extending at a mediate height of the wall, a second wall plate adjacent to the first wall plate, a top plate supported by the first and the wall plates, and a wall frame coupled with the bottom plate, the second wall plate, and the top plate for defining a channel and having a plate defining a fan-frame vent, a guide facing the rail on the first wall plate as to divide the channel into a first and a second compartments each slidably receiving a power supply cartridge, a fan fixedly secured within the frame in a direction of facing the fan-frame vent for expelling out of the chassis heat generated by the power supply cartridges out of the chassis, a power receptacle provided adjacent to an entrance of the channel for receiving a power cable.

6313965 - Chassis for mounting a mechanism such as a video cassette recorder - Owned by Sanyo Electric Co., LTD (Osaka,JP)

A mechanism chassis 1 comprises a polygonal flat plate portion 11 for arranging a plurality of mechanisms on a surface of thereof, and a plurality of side plate portions 12, 13, 14, 15 bent from the respective contour sides of the flat plate portion 11 toward a rear side of the flat plate portion 11. The flat plate portion 11 has a high-precision chassis region where those of the mechanisms of which a relatively high precision is required are to be arranged, and a high-strength chassis region where others of the mechanisms are to be arranged satisfactorily with a relatively low precision. The pair of side plate portions adjacent to each other at each corner included in the high-precision chassis region are separated from each other, and the pair of side plate portions adjacent to each other at each corner included in the high-strength chassis region are joined to each other.

5783771 - EMI chassis seam - Owned by Digital Equipment Corporation (Maynard, MA)

The invention relates to an enclosure for computers that is formed by slidably joining together two chassis portions. A groove formed in a wall of one chassis portion mates with a tongue formed in a wall of the other chassis portion. The tongue enters one end of the groove and slides throughout the groove's length until the two chassis portions become fully joined and form a completed enclosure. The combination of the tongue and groove forms a slidable tongue and groove joint. When both chassis portions are made of electrically conductive material, the tongue and groove joint effectively inhibits the passage of electromagnetic radiation through the seam that forms at the juncture of the two chassis portions.

5969776 - Display device and method of assembly - Owned by SamSung Electronics Co., Ltd. (Suwon,KR)

A display device is assembled so that access to the main PCB assembly is simplified. The rear housing covers the assembly; and once removed only the top shield has to be removed to expose the top of the main PCB assembly. After the top is removed the stand and bottom bracket can be easily removed, to gain access to the bottom of the main PCB assembly. This display device allows for the testing, repairing, and replacing of individual components of the main PCB without having to remove any of the side PCB assemblies. This allows repairs to be made in less time, at a lower cost, and increases the market competitiveness of the display device.

5806940 - Monitor housing having replaceable lid with thermal vent - Owned by Apple Computer, Inc. (Cupertino, CA)

A multipiece housing is provided having a mid bucket, an aft bucket secured to the mid bucket, and a replaceable lid fastened to the aft bucket having a thermal vent. The replaceable lid includes a plurality of posts. The posts are inserted against an inner wall of the aft bucket to position and fasten the replaceable lid to the top of aft bucket during assembly. The replaceable lid also includes snap features that clip onto an edge of the mid bucket to further secure the replaceable lid to the bucket. If another replaceable lid having a thermal vent with a different ventilation capacity is desired, a different replaceable lid having a different thermal vent is simply fastened to the same monitor housing.
