An apparatus for positioning a bowling ball during a drilling process and method that provides reproducible orientations of the ball for accurately modifying and repeating the drilling process is described. The apparatus affixed a bowling ball while exposing a sufficient portion of a surface of the ball where middle finger, ring finger and thumb holes are to be drilled. The apparatus positions the bowling ball for drilling holes of varying pitch without requiring the ball to be removed from its rigidly affixed position within the apparatus. Holes having severe pitches are easily drilled and reproduced, including oval holes having preselected oval rotations. A computer program converts inputted hand measurements to digitized apparatus movements for positioning the ball prior to drilling a desired hole. Digital encoders indicate apparatus movement that is matched with computer output for ease and repeatability in drilling a ball.
A finger hole drilling machine for a bowling ball is disclosed. The drilling machine includes a ball seat assembly, an air suction/expelling valve unit, a marking pen assembly and a turntable assembly. The ball seat assembly has a ball seat housing of the box type for tilting the bowling ball forward and backward, and a ball seat movably placed on the ball seat housing and adapted for tilting the bowling ball leftward and rightward. The drilling machine identically drills the finger holes on a plurality of bowling balls of a bowler, thus to achieve identity of the finger holes of the bowling balls. The drilling machine also readily sets the drilling positions on the bowling balls, thus to save time and to readily finish the finger hole drilling work and to improve the efficiency of the finger hole drilling work.
A marking system includes a fixture having a base and means for receiving a pair of jaws in an installed condition. The fixture includes means for articulating the installed jaws relative to the base with at least first and second rotational degrees of freedom. A pair of the jaws includes a first jaw having a surface portion generally concave and complementary to a suction side portion of an airfoil of a first turbine engine element. A second jaw has a surface portion generally convex and complementary to a pressure side portion of the airfoil.
A template for weighting and placement of finger holes in a bowling ball has a meridian plane indicator and an angular indicator. The meridian indicator includes a scale which determines the distance between placements of finger holes and a thumb hole for bowling balls. A second scale is on the angular indicator to determine placement of a weighted center of gravity with respect to a bowling ball pin. The angular indicator is positioned with respect to the meridian plane indicator such that the meridian plane indicator forms the supplementary plane of the angle indicating member.

An inclining and rotating table apparatus is provided with a rotary table device having a driven rotating shaft driven to rotate by a first drive source, and a rotary table driven to rotate by the driven rotating shaft; a driven turning shaft for causing inclination of a table surface of the rotary table device by causing the rotary table device to turn, the driven turning shaft being driven to turn by a second drive source; and a clamping device for clamping at least one of the driven rotating shaft and the driven turning shaft.
