An amusement track ride system comprises a pair of rails forming a track including a spinning section. A car traveling along the rails includes a chassis, a passenger seat on the chassis, and a plurality of wheel portions situated close to the feet of a passenger in a passenger seat. In the spinning section, the rails extend in a helix along an inner surface of an imaginary cylinder having a central axis, the diameter of the imaginary cylinder being set so that the axis of helical rotation of the car traveling in a spin along the rails passes through the car and is substantially in alignment with the central axis of the imaginary cylinder. The holding device has a shoulder retainer provided at the back rest for holding down the shoulders of the passenger in the passenger seat from above. The retainer is guided by a guide mechanism to be movable in the extending direction of the seat back rest, and locked by a locking mechanism in a position where the retainer abuts against the passenger's shoulders.
The invention relates to the entertainment industry. The inventive big dipper comprises a base (1), a closed guidway provided with a spiral part (3) for lifting, a part (4) arranged in the station (5) area, a dead loop part (6) and a transport means. Said transport means turns about the longitudinal axis of the spiral part (3) for lifting until a roll-over is performed prior to landing. Said invention provides passengers with a variety of entertaining effects.
A variably curved track-mounted amusement ride having at least one outside curve and at least one inside curve, each lying substantially within a vertical plane and each having an axis of symmetry which is substantially horizontal. Preferably, the top curve is an outside curve; and preferably inside and outside curves alternate with each other. Also preferably, before the first curve, between each outside curve and each inside curve, and after the last curve is a substantially straight segment which slopes downward. The vertical distance occupied by an outside curve is less than that occupied by an inside curve. The track can retain a cart which runs on the track no matter what the orientation of the body of the cart is with respect to the track. Any means that is well known in the art can be used to raise the cart to the beginning of the track.
A restraining device for restraining a passenger on a moving unit includes a passenger body enveloping unit having two side components each having a front end and a back end. The back end of each of the side components is joined to hinges fixed in an upper portion of a back of a seat of the moving unit, and the front end of each of the side components are connected together to form a space for enveloping the passenger. A transverse component rigidly fastened to the passenger body enveloping unit rests against the passenger's thighs when the passenger body enveloping unit envelops the passenger. A lock unit restrains the passenger body enveloping unit after the transverse component has come to rest against the passenger's thighs such that the passenger body enveloping unit envelops the passenger in an area of the passenger's forearms and belly.
A fun-ride more particularly for amusement parks, fairs and the like comprises at least one rail vehicle 1 and a guide lap for the vehicle 1. In a lateral projection a lap section 2 of the guide lap essentially constitutes a loop, the lap section 2 comprising a first uphill section 3 and a second downhill section 4 and the top ends of the sections are connected together. At least in the uphill section 3 the means 5 for engagement with the vehicle 1 is arranged. This means may for example be a holding brake or a coupling device. It is preferably operated when the vehicle 1 comes to a halt after a downward movement owing to the action of gravity on the vehicle 1. Accordingly a method for the operation of such a fun-ride comprises the steps of: transport of the vehicle 1 from a starting point 3a and 4b in the bottom portion of the lap section 2 by means of a lift upward; release of the vehicle 1 from the lift, which the owing to the action of gravity performs a downward movement; activation of the means 5 for engagement with the vehicle 1, when same is in the vicinity of the means 5; and further transport or return transport of the vehicle 1 to the starting point 3a and 4b by means of a transport means.
An amusement ride comprises a hollow launch tube having an inner surface and first and second ends, the first end being open; a passenger vehicle having an outer peripheral surface which forms a substantial seal with the inner surface of the launch tube so as to form a substantially sealed space inside said launch tube from said passenger vehicle to the second end of the launch tube; guidance means for guiding said passenger vehicle along a pre-determined path to exit the launch tube, said guidance means being self-rigid and extending through said open first end along said pre-determined path; and a pressurized gas source for introducing pressurized gas into the substantially sealed space inside said launch tube sufficient to launch the passenger vehicle along said guidance means and out of the launch tube. Such amusement ride overcomes disadvantages of prior art amusement rides by launching a vehicle from a launch tube and guiding the vehicle along a path extending outwardly of the tube, thereby enhancing safety and design possibilities.
