A liquid applicator includes an elongated hollow body having opposed first and second open ends in fluid communication with one another, and a tip attached to the first open end and including a porous material. A closed, frangible ampul is supported within the second open end of the body and contains a liquid to be dispensed. A cap is provided at the second open end of the body, and which is movable axially relative to the body between a storage position and a use position in order to fracture the ampul. However, the cap is retained on the body and locked against movement from either of the storage or use positions toward the second open end of the body.
The invention provides a transportable applicator system in intended in particular for applying a composition on a localized surface element. It comprises a main body (10) extended by a rod handle (12) and a receptacle (14) in which said main body (10) is suitable for being inserted. The applicator system comprises: a puncturable container (18) containing said composition and held in said receptacle (14); applicator means (13) for applying said composition and secured to the end of said main body; and means (22, 20) for puncturing said container (18) when the main body (10) is forced into said receptacle (14) so as to puncture said puncturable container (18), whereby said applicator means (13) are suitable for being impregnated with said composition.
By employing two integrated components which cooperate to achieve a product dispensing trigger assembly, and mounting these two components to a container within which the desired product is retained and on which a desired seal is mounted, a unique fluid product holding and dispensing system is realized. In the present invention, the fluid product holding and dispensing system possesses two separate and distinct locked positions which assures that the system is retained in either locked position, until change is desired by the user. As a result, accidental or unwanted activation of the system is completely eliminated and users are assured that the product retained and sealed in the container remains sealed until use is desired and accidental opening or rupturing of the seal is completely eliminated. In addition, by employing the two-component fluid product holding and dispensing trigger assembly of this invention, an easily manufactured, reasonably priced system is attained which is capable of providing consistent, dependable, repeatable results.
Marker pen devices for dispensing moisture sensitive or volatile liquids, which include an outer tube open at one end, of rigid plastic or aluminum with a sealed glass ampoule inside the tube which has liquid therein to be dispensed which may contain a metallic glass ball for mixing and/or breaking the ampoule for freeing the liquid, for dispensing through a spring action nib valve, which closes off the open end of the tube, and in an alternate embodiment may have an externally mounted slide ring activator to distort said tube and crush the ampoule.
A polymerizable 1,1-disubstituted ethylene formulation applicator includes polymerizable 1,1-disubstituted ethylene monomer. According to one embodiment, the monomer is surrounded by a container that may be engaged with an applicator tip The applicator tip has an internal cavity defined in an applicator tip body. A female fitting at an open end of the applicator tip body is in fluid communication with the cavity. A porous material member is connected to the applicator tip body to be in fluid communication with the internal cavity. The applicator tip may include a valve member disposed between the internal cavity and the porous material member. Also, the applicator tip may include a piercing or breaking member disposed substantially within the internal cavity. The container of monomer includes a male fitting that may be engaged with the female fitting of the applicator tip to form the applicator. The container also may include a polymerizable 1,1-disubstituted ethylene impervious barrier that may be pierced or broken by the piercing or breaking member when the male fitting is engaged with the female fitting. Depending on the particular application and the particular formulation, bioactive agents, viscosity modifiers, initiators, inhibitors and/or stabilizers may be added to the applicator, preferably in or on the porous material member. The container and one or more applicator tips form an applicator kit. Methods of applying a polymerizable 1,1-disubstituted ethylene formulation employ the various embodiments of the applicator tip, the applicator and the applicator kit, especially for the treatment of lacerated, burned, ulcerous, and laser-ablated tissues.
A hydratable bioelectrode for use in an iontophoretic delivery device comprising a hydrating component and a bioelectrode component. The hydrating component includes a cradle having a chamber containing one or more fluid containing ampule(s) and ampule breaking means associated with the cradle for rapidly breaking the one or more fluid containing ampule(s).
