This invention relates to an abrasive-containing surface-finish composition, comprising: an effective amount of abrasive particulates to enhance the non-slip characteristics of said composition, said abrasive particulates having an average particle size of up to about 100 microns. The surface finish-composition can be water-based or oil-based. In one embodiment the surface-finish composition further comprises water, at least one acrylic polymer and at least one synthetic wax. Optional ingredients include one or more alkali-soluble resins, leveling agents, water-soluble solvents, plasticizers, defoaming agents, fragrance enhancers, biocides, and the like. These compositions are useful as anti-slip floor finishes.
A ceramic-based hardwood floor finishing method resistant to panelization, exhibiting improved durability, and suitable for on-site use. The method is comprised of laying down successive layers of water-based primer, armor coat and top coat. The water-based primer utilizes a low resin content and a low co-solvent concentration to substantially reduce panelization of hardwood boards. The water-based armor coat is comprised of large particulate size ceramic additives which, in combination with a low resin content, allow the formation of a microscopic bead structure on the surface of the finish which provides enhanced durability.
The present invention relates to wax formulations comprising a wax constituent a) plus at least one high molecular mass isobutene polymer b) in an amount of from 0.1 to 5 parts by weight per part by weight of constituent a).
A novel texture for providing improved gripping of bare skin on wet surfaces is disclosed. In one embodiment, the novel texture is employed on a swimming pool touchpad assembly (10) at a start/finish end wall (12) of a swimming pool (14). The texture includes distributed ultra-fine particles (44) having a dimension of less than 100 microns and, preferably, less than 50 microns, and provides an unexpected "dry" feeling for enhanced slip resistance.
A novel non-wax superior gloss polishing compound formulation is disclosed. The polishing compound comprises:a) a water repelling and film forming acrylic resin;b) silicone fluids;c) finely divided abrasives;d) a hydrocarbon and alkanol solvent; ande) water, acrylic polymer emulsifer, preservation and fragrance.
A process for coating a solid surface comprises 1) applying onto a solid surface a primer coating prepared from an amine curing agent, a polysulfide toughening agent, an epoxy resin, a rubber toughening agent, a fire retardant, a glass fiber thixotrope, and a pigment; and 2) applying onto the primer coating a topcoat prepared from an amine curing agent, a polysulfide toughening agent, an epoxy resin, a rubber toughening agent, a fire retardant, a glass fiber thixotrope, a pigment and an abrasive aggregate.
