A brake device for a VCR rapidly stopping the rotation of the supply reel and the take-up reel and reducing the number of brake shafts and brake springs. The brake device includes a supply reel soft brake and a supply reel main brake which are rotatably mounted on a common shaft at a side of the supply reel for braking the supply reel. A take-up reel soft brake and a take-up reel main brake are rotatably mounted on a common shaft at a side of the take-up reel for braking the take-up reel. The brake device further includes a pair of brake springs. One of the brake springs is mounted on the common shaft at the side of the supply reel and biases the supply reel brakes in opposed directions in order to make these supply reel brakes come into close contact with the supply reel. The other spring is mounted on the common shaft at the side of the take-up reel and biases the take-up reel brakes in opposed directions in order to make the take-up reel brakes come into close contact with the take-up reel.
A VCR having a reel brake device is formed with plural friction projections arranged along the outer circumference of a reel table at a regular interval and plural correspondent projections having the identical pitch on a felt surface of a brake member closely attached to the friction projections. Once the brake is to be applied in a released state, the VCR produces a secure braking force by a frictional force between the friction projections and correspondent projections to prevent slack of a tape and degradation of picture quality.
A reel brake assembly for a magnetic recording/reading apparatus comprises a sub-deck slidably disposed on a main-deck in which a head drum is mounted, a reel table rotatably disposed in the sub-deck, for selectively driving a tape reel of a tape cassette, a brake unit pivotably disposed on the sub-deck, for selectively braking the reel table, and a cam gear rotated by a driving force of a driving motor, for moving the sub-deck to load and unload the sub-deck. The brake unit is selectively brought into contact with and separated from the reel table in relation to movement of the cam gear when the sub-deck is loaded and unloaded.
There are provided a mode switching member (1)movable between a stop mode position in which a brake for braking rotation of a reel table is operated and a quick forward/rewind mode position; an energizing mechanism (3) for elastically energizing, when the mode switching member (1) is in the quick forward/rewind mode, the mode switching member (1) toward the stop mode position; a holding mechanism (6) for holding the mode switching member (1) in the quick forward/rewind mode position against energizing of the energizing mechanism (3) and a hold releasing mechanism (7) for releasing the holding state of the mode switching member (1) by the holding mechanism (6) according to a stop instruction for operating the brake.
Embodiments of the present invention relates to an apparatus including a real engagement portion, a first brake, and a second brake. The first brake is configured to be selectively coupled to the first reel engagement portion. The second brake is configured to be selectively configured to the first reel engagement portion.
