The device of the present invention is substantially disk-shaped having two flat sides lying in parallel planes substantially one-inch apart and a circular profile with a circular perimeter surface connecting the two circular flat sides. The device is molded from a urethane material having a durometer hardness of approximately 60. When used as a training device for softball pitching, the device will have a 12" circumference, a 3.75" diameter, a thickness of 1", a weight of 6.25 ounces and a pair of molded seams on opposite sides of the circular perimeter; two seams being 1.5" apart and two seams being 3" apart.
A device for training a pitcher or thrower, the device having a form that simulates the ball for which the pitcher is to be trained, examples being a softball or baseball. The device is constructed to allow one part of it to visibly rotate while one or more additional parts of the device visibly do not. It has a surface similar to the surface of the ball for which the pitcher would train, and a means to emit a distinctive and easily audible sound when it is properly thrown.
An instructional baseball for teaching the proper manner of throwing a curveball. The instructional baseball comprises a generally spherical ball having a continuous seam on the surface, said seam defining a horseshoe-shaped boundary for each of four areas on the surface of the ball, and a depression within each of the areas, each of the depressions having substantially the same volume.
This is a device for training a pitcher in establishing his or her direct line to home plate during initial set-up of delivery of a pitch to home plate. Once the direct line to home plate has been established the training device then teaches the proper body mechanics as the pitch is delivered in the relationship of the follow through position. The device also teaches the pitcher of throwing a pitch to a specific area of home plate.
A device for training an athlete to grip a ball, which is particularly well-suited to train an individual, such as a girl, to correctly grip a softball. The device may include a body having two or more openings defined thereby. Each one of the openings is configured to have inserted therein at least one finger of a user. When worn by a user, the grip training device causes a ball that is held by the user to be spaced apart from the user's palm and to be gripped by the fingertips, which may provide additional control and speed of the ball when pitched. The grip training device may include, e.g., five openings, wherein each one of the five openings is configured to have inserted therein one of the five fingers of a user's hand, or may instead include a multi-finger opening that is configured to have inserted therein more than one finger of a user's hand.
An accurate-automated-multi-axis machine for projecting objects. Multiple axes are employed to impart predetermined velocities and rotational components to the projected object. Projection of the object may be synchronized with a displayed video image to simulate the throwing of an object.
