6032669 - Positioning pillow for approximating anatomic position in lateral decubitus position

A surgical support for positioning a patient's lateral thighs during liposuction thereof. The support comprises an elongate pillow positionable between the thighs of the patient such that a respective one of the patient's lateral thighs is maintained in an upwardly-oriented position and abducted from the patients body such that the greater trochanter of the femur of such abducted leg is rotated interiorally and medially to such a degree that pseudobulging of the greater trochanter is eliminated or substantially minimized. The pillow preferably includes a tapered proximal end oriented to be positioned towards the crotch of the patient and a gradually upwardly-extending distal end that defines a top support surface upon which the lateral thigh is intra-operatively positioned. The support further is provide with a passageway formed therewithin and pillow along the length thereof to accommodate the respective other leg of the patient so that the patient may assume the lateral decubitus position while approximating the anatomic position.

5716334 - Body part immobilizer

A body part immobilizer is disclosed. The device comprises an arm, leg, or head cast, each having a cavity means for receiving the respective body part therein. Securement straps are provided for securely holding the body part in the appropriate cast member while tie-down straps can be used to secure the device to a table, bed, etc. Drains means are located within each cast member for draining fluid therefrom.

5745939 - Leg rest - Owned by Gaymar Industries, Inc. (Orchard Park, NY)

The leg rest includes a pair of trough portions for receiving the patient's legs and a raised central portion and a pair of raised side portions for keeping the legs apart and restraining sideways leg movement. The central and side portions extend beyond the trough portions for restraining sideways movement of the patient's feet as the patient's legs rest on the trough portions with the patient's feet projecting beyond the trough portions for pressure relief of the patient's heels. The leg rest may be inflatable so that it may be inexpensively produced and disposable and so that its pressure may be adjusted for patient comfort. The leg rest may be contained within a case which has a bib for underlying the patient's upper legs to prevent slippage of the leg rest out of position.

6634045 - Heel elevator support

A heel elevating foam cushion is used to relieve heel pressure ulcers in patients confined to bed. The cushion elevates the lower legs and thereby supports the feet without any contact with the feet. Bolsters or palisades on either side of the cushion prevent the legs from falling from the bed, while allowing normal movement of the legs associated with cleaning of the patient, medical treatment of the limbs, etc. The surface of the cushion is covered by a waterproof covering. The cushion may be in a single use or multiple use configuration. A compression process is used to reduce the volume of the cushion by a factor of approximately eight, thereby allowing the convenient storage of cushions without the requirement for extensive storage facilities. The cushion finds application in treating persons with heel or foot pressure ulcers, in treatment of persons after orthopedic surgery, and in recovery from venous surgery for insufficient circulation in the lower limbs.
