Abstract
This invention relates to an improved cooling system for a reactor having ultraviolet (UV) lamps, the radiation from which treats a fluid medium, for example, water, air or solvent. More particularly, the reactor system is adapted to treat contaminants in the fluids by use of UV emitting lamps which operate at high temperatures normally in excess of 300.degree. C.

6570173 - Device for disinfecting water flowing through a sanitary facility - Owned by Hansa Metallwerke AG (Stuttgart,DE)

A device for sterilizing water flowing through a sanitary appliance, e.g. a bathtub outlet (1), comprises a UV lamp (12), which is disposed in a housing (2, 3, 4) having a housing jacket (2) and the radiation of which is directed towards the water flowing through. Disposed in the housing (2, 3, 4) is a throughflow chamber (17), which surrounds the UV lamp (12). The UV lamp (12) has a substantially rod-shaped lamp body (32). The latter is surrounded by a protective tube (19) made substantially of a material which transmits UV light. The protective tube (19) prevents a flow directly against the lamp body (32). The lamp body (32) is supported against the protective tube (19) via supporting means (38, 39), which allow only a low heat transfer between the protective tube (19) and the lamp body (32).

7270748 - Sterilizing water faucet - Owned by Next Energy Wave, Inc. (Youngstown, OH)

An integrated flow through water sterilization device within a sanitary faucet fixture. A portion of the flow path has a plurality of ultraviolet radiation generating LED's arranged around a transparent flow conduit within the faucet. The ultraviolet radiation generating LED's effectively sterilize the water as it flows through and is dispensed by the faucet. A hydro-electric generator is driven by a water flow to the faucet upon demand and provides electrical power for the ultraviolet radiation generating LED's as water is used.

6863078 - Fluid treatment system and cleaning apparatus therefor - Owned by Trojan Technologies, Inc. (CA)

A cleaning apparatus (10) for a radiation source assembly (35) in a fluid treatment system is described. The cleaning apparatus comprise cleaning chamber (20) and a second chamber (25, 30) independent of the cleaning chamber which defines a fluid (typically water) buffer layer to obviate or mitigate cleaning fluid from the cleaning chamber leaking into the fluid being treated. The fluid treatment system is particularly useful for us in clean water applications in which ultraviolet radiation is used to treat the water while having the advantages of in situ cleaning of the radiation source when it becomes fouled.

6500346 - Fluid treatment device and method for treatment of fluid - Owned by Trojan Technologies, Inc. (CA)

A fluid treatment device, particularly useful for ultraviolet radiation treatment of fluids such as water. The device comprises a housing for receiving a flow of fluid. The housing has a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, a fluid treatment zone disposed between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet and at least one radiation source having a longitudinal axis disposed in the fluid treatment zone substantially transverse to a direction of the flow of fluid through the housing. The fluid inlet, the fluid outlet and the fluid treatment zone are arranged substantially collinearly with respect to one another. The fluid inlet has a first opening having: (i) a cross-sectional area less than a cross-sectional area of the fluid treatment zone, and (ii) a largest diameter substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the at least one radiation source assembly.

7250610 - UV light disinfection device - Owned by Pentair Pump Group, Inc. (Golden Valley, MN)

A UV disinfection device having a contact chamber, the chamber being a container with an interior, a top portion and a bottom portion. A partition is positioned in the interior to form a first and second chamber, where the first and second chambers are in fluid communication near the bottom portion of the container. The container has an inlet in one of the first or second chambers, where the inlet is formed in the container near the top portion. The device includes an outlet in the other of the first or second chambers, and an ultraviolet lamp is positioned in either the first or second chambers.
