A warm air mask comprising a facial covering configured to form an upper edge positionable above the nose of a wearer, a lower edge positionable beneath the chin of a wearer, and side edges positionable beyond the ears of a wearer; a plurality of oval inhale ports formed in the covering and extending therethrough, each inhale port including a flap to open with the inhaling of a wearer and to close with the exhaling of a wearer. An exhale port is formed in the covering and extending therethrough, the exhale port including a flap to open with the exhaling of a wearer and to close with the inhaling of a wearer. Further, an array of electrical resistance wires for generating heat when electrically activated, the array being positioned in each inhale port with an associated electrical power source for selectively activating and inactivating the resistance wires.
A facial mask eliminates odors from the exhalation of a wearer while permitting detection by the wearer of odors a the surrounding environment. In the preferred embodiment, the invention takes the form of an air permeable facial covering disposed over the mouth and nose of the wearer, including elements for absorbing exhalation odors impregnated therein. At least one single direction inlet valve is disposed in the air permeable facial covering thereby providing an incoming air passageway through which ambient air may pass without passing through the means for absorbing exhalation odors. Elements for securing the perimeter of the air permeable facial covering to the wearer, such as an elastic band, is provided so that the exhalation of the wearer must pass through the elements for absorbing exhalation odors and may not escape around the perimeter of the air permeable facial covering.
A system for controlling the temperature and relative humidity of the interior chamber of a respirator is disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, the system includes a body configured to conform to the face of a user and form an interior chamber defined by the respirator body and the face of the user. The system includes a sight region in the upper portion of the body through which the user can see. A thermoelectric module having a first temperature plate and a second temperature plate is interposed in the lower portion of the body so that the first temperature plate contacts the interior chamber and the second temperature plate contacts the external environment. A power source provides DC current to the thermoelectric module causing a temperature differential between the first temperature plate and the second temperature plate. Preferably, the plates of the thermoelectric module include heat exchangers and fans for maximizing the efficiency of the thermoelectric module. The power source includes means for reversing polarity to reverse the temperature differential of the thermoelectric module and means for modulating current to the thermoelectric module to control the temperature differential.
A cold weather breathing device that protects the face including the mouth and nostril area from direct exposure to the external environment, prevents a user's goggles from fogging in cold environments, and keeps moist exhaled breath away from the user's face. In a preferred embodiment, the device is configured to provide separate breathing channels for exhaled air from the mouth and nose. To promote ease of cleaning, the breathing device can be attached to a head garment with a simple interlocking design that allows its removal and separate cleaning. The breathing device provides a nose-channel-forming member and mouth disc that are mounted on the head garment and inset into a mouth-channel-forming member which is thus attached to the head garment.
A disposable face mask includes a mask body covering substantially a nose, mouth, and chin of a wearer, and an extension provided with the mask body. The extension is configured to encircle a back of a wearer's head and to substantially cover a wearer's cheeks, jaw, and ears. A substantial portion of the extension is formed from a resilient material treated with a repellant agent to prevent contaminants from entering or exiting such treated portion of the extension.
A disposable face mask includes a mask body covering substantially a nose and mouth of a wearer, and a connecting means included with the mask body. The connecting means includes a pair of ties, an elastic cord, and/or an extension having lateral panels which have a connectable section. A cord is coupled to and extends between at least one pair of lateral panels. The connecting means is configured to releasable encircle a back of a wearer's head to hold a mask body in position over a wearer's nose and mouth.
