Abstract
The 90.degree. rotation nozzle assembly for a trigger sprayer comprises a nose bushing and a nozzle cap rotatably mounted on the nose bushing. The nose bushing has a front core with a front face and a generally cylindrical periphery. The generally cylindrical periphery has first, second and third, angularly spaced apart, longitudinally extending channels therein which open onto the front face of the core and extend rearwardly therefrom. The nozzle cap includes a front wall having a back side and a cylinder having an inner cylindrical wall surface and extending rearwardly from the back side of the front wall to a rear end of the cylinder. The front wall has a discharge orifice therethrough and the back side of the front wall has a swirl chamber formed therein in the area of and communicating with the discharge orifice. The back side also has first and second nondiametrically disposed radial slots therein that extend radially inwardly from the cylindrical wall surface to the swirl chamber and first and second nondiametrically disposed tangential slots therein that are angularly offset from the radial slots and that extend from the cylindrical wall surface tangentially to the swirl chamber.

5641125 - Nozzle assembly including a nozzle cap and a unitary nose bushing - Owned by AFA Products, Inc. (Forest City, NC)

The nozzle assembly comprises two pieces, they being: a nozzle cap; and, an integral nose bushing on which the nozzle cap is threadedly received. The integral nose bushing includes a body portion received and mounted in a body of a trigger sprayer and a bushing portion integral with the bushing portion. The bushing portion includes a generally cylindrical portion having a distal end and a proximal end with the proximal end having threads thereon and the distal end having a smooth outer cylindrical surface. The cylindrical portion has an annular slot therein defining an outer cylindrical flange and a central cylindrical portion. The central cylindrical portion has an outer end which extends outwardly of the outer cylindrical flange and which has an outer end having an annular wall defining therein a swirl cavity. The nose bushing has a passage therein communicating a waterway in the bushing portion with the annular slot in the cylindrical portion. The nozzle cap includes a generally cylindrical skirt formation extending rearwardly from a front wall of the cap having an orifice extending through the front wall. The generally cylindrical skirt formation includes an internal threaded portion which is adapted to mate with threads on the threaded portion of the nose bushing. The nozzle cap also has, on a rear surface of the front wall, an axially, rearwardly extending annular projection which surrounds the orifice and which is sized to be received in and seal with the walls of the swirl cavity.

7017833 - Trigger sprayer spray, off, stream, off indexing nozzle assembly - Owned by Continental AFA Dispensing Company (St. Peters, MO)

An indexing nozzle assembly for a trigger sprayer has a manually rotatable cap mounted for rotation on a liquid spinner of the nozzle assembly. Rotation of a cap changes the nozzle assembly between an off condition, a spray condition, a second off condition, and a stream condition of the liquid discharged from the nozzle assembly. The cap can be rotated from the off position directly to either of the spray or stream positions by rotating the cap one-quarter turn in opposite directions. A spatial relationship between an end surface of the liquid spinner and an interior surface of the cap end wall that surrounds the assembly discharge orifice improves the stream configuration of liquid discharged by the nozzle assembly.

6997397 - Trigger sprayer nozzle - Owned by Continental AFA Dispensing Company (St. Peters, MO)

A trigger sprayer includes a sprayer body having a barrel with an internal passage, and a nozzle mounted over an open end of the barrel for rotation between dispensing and non-dispensing positions. The nozzle has a plug that is received in the open end of the barrel passage. The plug has laterally opening windows positioned for selective registry with an internal axial slot in the wall of the barrel passage adjacent to the open end of the barrel. The windows in the plug connect with fluid outlets in the nozzle. The nozzle is rotatable around the end of the barrel selectively for bringing the windows into registry with the slot in the barrel to dispense fluid from the end of the nozzle.

5992765 - Mechanical break-up for spray actuator - Owned by Summit Packaging Systems, Inc. (Manchester, NH)

A spray actuator which has an inlet which communicates with a discharge orifice outlet via a passageway and a discharge cavity. The discharge cavity accommodates a central post therein which supports a plurality of axial fins that may be each provided with stop shoulder. An insert member, carrying a discharge orifice, is received within the discharge cavity and engages with the support fins and the stop shoulders. The insert member is provided with an annular lip which has an interference fit with the inner side wall, defining the discharge cavity, to retain permanently the insert member within the discharge cavity. An end face of the side wall of the insert member abuts against the stop shoulders to prevent overinsertion of the insert member into the discharge cavity and thereby prevent inadvertent deformation or crushing of the mechanical break-up. An end face of the central post has a mechanical break-up molded therein which impart a tangential spin to pressurized product as the product flow therethrough.
