Abstract
A garage door-opener security system which automatically positively blocks any unauthorized opening of a sectional garage door that travels, guided by rollers, in a pair of flanking metal guide tracks. The security system is interconnected with a standard, automatic, garage door-opening mechanism that includes an electric drive motor. When the door reaches its fully closed position, a locking device, mounted adjacent one of the flanking tracks, physically inserts a locking pin into the trackway in which the rollers move, which pin is located a few inches above the roller next below. The locking pin is closely confined by a surrounding aperture which prevents its upward deflection or twisting, thus making it impossible for the roller to move therepast in the trackway and positively preventing the raising of the door more than a few inches. Upon the application of electrical power to the motor to drive the door to its open position, the locking pin is automatically immediately withdrawn to permit the normal operation of the door. In the case of power failure, an element is provided for disabling the locking device.

5720333 - Locking assembly

A motor driven roller shutter (10) employs a curtain (11) having a leading edge (12) and being adapted to slide vertical in a guide channel (14) between a raised position and a lowered position. A locking assembly (13) is secured to the channel (14) and is engageable with the shutter adjacent the leading edge (12) to inhibit the leading edge being levered away from the lowered position. The leading edge includes a flange (15) d the locking assembly includes a retractable foot (16) extending from a housing (17) so that in order to raise the shutter (11), the foot (16) must be retracted into the housing (17). A solenoid inner circuit is used to retract the foot (16) which then engages a limit switch to make the circuit to a motor to raise the curtain. Typically, the two locking assemblies are used opposite ends of the leading edge of the curtain.

5751224 - Code learning system for a movable barrier operator - Owned by The Chamberlain Group, Inc. (Elmhurst, IL)

A movable barrier or garage door operator has a control head controlling an electric motor connected to a movable barrier or garage door to open and close it. The control head has an RF receiver for receiving RF signals from a hand-held transmitter or a fixed keypad transmitter. The receiver operates the electric motor upon matching a received code with a stored code. The stored codes may be updated or loaded either by enabling the learn mode of the receiver from the fixed keypad transmitter or from a wired control unit positioned within the garage.

6273174 - Garage door opener security system

A garage door opener security system, for preventing the unauthorized opening of a garage door, mounted within a dwelling. The garage door opener has a track mounted to the dwelling, and a truck slidably mounted on the track which is operatively engaged with the door. A release lever extends downward from the truck to allow manual release and opening of the garage door. The security system prevents unauthorized operation of the release lever by providing a pair of security plates which extend downward from the truck on either side of the release lever. The security plates thereby prevent an unauthorized person from extending an object into the garage from outside in an attempt at operating the release lever.

6070361 - Garage door operating system and method of operating a garage door

A garage door operating system which includes a garage door, framing along which the garage door is positioned and travels between non-closed and closed positions, a signal generator which transmits a closed and or non-closed signal depending upon the position of the garage door, and finally includes an indicator which provides a suitable indicator signal upon receiving the signal.
