The present disclosure relates to an improved floss implement comprising a composite of a multifilament yarn bonded to an extruded monofilament. Both elements are made of polymer compounds, preferably nylon, to provide desired ease of use of the monofilament as a leader to pass the implement easily between the teeth or under bridges while the multifilament yarn can be provided in looped embodiments, as a bush element or in the form of one or more tails thus providing superior flossing action when passed between the teeth or under bridges.
A plurality of lengths of floss each includes two ends and a finger loop at each of the ends. The lengths of floss are removably connected to each other to form a single, continuous piece and are stored within a dispenser. The dispenser includes an opening configured to permit the lengths of floss to be removed there-through and then separated for use.
This invention discloses an apparatus and method for cleaning teeth, particularly in individuals undergoing cosmetic and orthodontic treatment. The apparatus includes members having a tooth contact portion and a handle portion. Connected to the tooth contact portion is a floss tip enclosure element capable of receiving floss that is capped. The invention can be used easily and conveniently to enable a person to floss underneath bridges, or orthodontic wiring, without damage to the gingival tissue.
The invention provides a flossing device to remove debris, food, plaque, and bacteria from in between the proximal surfaces of teeth undergoing orthodontic treatment. In an embodiment of the invention, a dental flossing guide comprises a lead portion and floss filament attached thereto and extending therefrom. The lead portion comprises two wires mechanically entwined with the floss filament and a soft flexible coating, with a good portion of the floss filament extending long enough to be grabbed by two hands. The flossing guide features a small diameter to fit between the orthodontic wire and the front portion of the tooth. The soft coating and a curvilinear tip of the flossing guide protects the gingival tissue when inserted into a patient's mouth. The flossing guide is used on patients that are undergoing orthodontic treatment to promote a healthy oral cavity environment. The flossing guide is easy to use by all ages.
A teeth cleaning device including an elongated length of dental floss which has brush formations at spaced intervals therealong with a greater cross section than that of the floss. The brush formation is retained on the dental floss by heating the brush formation to be melted to the floss and, in particular, by forming the floss from a core wire and a meltable melt wire which is heated to melt the melt wire to hold the brush formation to the floss.
An improved dental floss construction (10) for removing plaque and food particles from the periphery of the metal support posts (101) for a dental implant (100) wherein the construction (10) includes a pair of deformable end units (11) wherein each end unit (11) has a very thin strand of wire (20) encapsulated in a very thin layer of plastic; wherein, each strand of wire (20) has an inboard end (21). In addition, the construction (10) further includes an intermediate flossing unit (12) having a length of flossing material (30) such as plastic yarn whose opposite ends are supported by the inboard ends (24) of each strand of wire (20).
