Abstract
An apparatus for processing solid organic waste by crushing and/or agitating and fermenting the waste includes a solid organic matter processing device including a processing vessel provided with a crushing unit for receiving and crushing the solid organic waste and a processing unit for agitating and fermenting the crushed waste, a heat exchanger disposed outside the solid organic matter processing device which heat exchanger condenses vapor in a gas supplied from the processing vessel of the solid organic matter processing device to thereby change the vapor to liquid and to discharge the liquid, and gas circulation pipes for providing a gas circulation path through which the inside of the processing vessel of the solid organic matter processing device is operably connected to the heat exchanger and through which a gas in the processing vessel of the solid organic matter processing device is supplied into the heat exchanger and almost all of which gas processed in the heat exchanger is returned to the solid organic matter processing device while a portion of the gas processed in the heat exchanger or a portion of the gas supplied from the processing vessel of the solid organic matter processing device is discharged to the outside of the apparatus.

5981269 - Apparatus for fermenting and composting food waste

The present invention relates to an apparatus for fermenting and composting food waste which can compost food waste having much more weight by decomposing and practically reducing the waste at the source, such as homes, restaurants, etc., directly, or ferment them by fermenting or drying them, if needed. A fermenting barrel of U-shaped cross-section with a filling opening and a discharging opening is formed on a frame at the inner side of the apparatus. A rotating stirring shaft is formed in the fermenting barrel so that the rotating stirring shaft passes through the center of the fermenting barrel. A decelerator is connected at one end of the rotating stirring shaft by gears, and a blower is connected at the other end of the rotating stirring shaft through a connecting pipe. A ventilating pipe with a plurality of ventilating holes on the rotating stirring shaft is connected with the rotating stirring shaft in parallel. Supporting shafts are radially arranged apart from each other, and rotating stirring wings in the shape of triangular cones having an arc-shaped bottom portion are formed at the ends of the supporting shafts. An electric heating coil is wound on the outer surface of the fermenting barrel and is covered by a heat shielding layer. A suction pipe is mounted so that it passes through the upper portion of the fermenting barrel.

6703234 - Animal body composting - Owned by C S Associated PTY LTD (Glenelg East,AU)

A method of composting especially high protein waste which reduces noxious odor and assists in reducing pathogens by recirculating substantially only the air and gaseous product of the composting process through the composting materials which are separated by layers of absorbent chips.

5735225 - Method for recovering energy from solid waste - Owned by Fertilvita S.r.l. (Corteolona (Pavia), IT

A method for recovering energy from waste, which includes: a first waste trituration step; fermentation of the waste in the presence of air. The method allows to recover the energy produced by waste combustion with an efficiency that is at least 50% higher than methods used so far.

5766935 - Apparatus for composting organic waste

This disclosure is directed to a method and apparatus for recycling organic waste material into reusable compost. This is attained by shredding or grinding organic waste and mixing the ground waste into a homogeneous mass and conveying the homogeneous mass to a decomposition chamber where it is aerated with recirculating air to decompose into a reusable compost. The apparatus for carrying out the process includes a compact, self-contained housing having a component section and a decomposition chamber. The waste material is ground and mixed in the component section and then conveyed to the decomposition chamber by a conveyor which disperses the homogenous waste longitudinally and laterally within the decomposition chamber. A blower directs aerating air into the decomposition chamber and the air is recirculated back to the blower, where the recirculated air is mixed with a predetermined amount of incoming fresh air, and a portion of the recirculating air is exhausted to atmosphere, the exhausting air being filtered prior to being exhausted. Thereafter, the resulting compost is removed by an auger through a discharge opening of the decomposition chamber.

7507577 - Treatment apparatus for excrement and a bio-toilet using the same and a treatment method for decomposing excrement

The invention discloses a treatment apparatus for the excrement and a bio-toilet using the treatment apparatus. The treatment apparatus includes a tank, a reactor basin in the tank for containing the raw material and the excrement and having at least two parallel, concave parts having curved profile in the bottom part of the tank, a temperature control means for maintaining the temperature of the basin at a predetermined range; and at least two mixing devices which match with the at least two concave parts, each of them can rotate around a rotation shaft, the helical blade stirrer secured to the rotation shaft by a plurality of spokes. The bio-toilet is waterless, and thus a large quantity of water can be saved and the pollution of the environment due to the drainage of sewage can be avoided. Furthermore, treated by the treatment apparatus of the present invention, the microorganisms and the organic materials are combined and converted into stable loosen soil and the organic components. The load applied to the environment will be decreased and the environmental protection will be most effective by using the bio-toilet of the present invention.
