Abstract
Apparatus and methods for use with electronic activation means such as work or entertainment systems introduce precisely controlled amounts of aromatic chemicals, using metered spray technology, into the immediate vicinity of the operator. Control is provided by microprocessor circuitry so that aromas may be used at appropriate times and intensities by computer or entertainment sources. Multiple removable spray containers may generate numerous aromatic enhancements to a wide variety of applications.

7223361 - Methods for emitting volatile compositions - Owned by The Proctor & Gamble Company (Cincinnati, OH)

Methods and devices for emitting volatile materials are disclosed. In some embodiments, methods and devices for emitting two or more fragrance compositions are disclosed. In one non-limiting embodiment of a device, the device has a housing, and the housing is supported on an electrical outlet by a plug at least indirectly joined to the housing. The device contains a first volatile composition and a second volatile composition. The first volatile composition is emitted in an alternating period relative to said second volatile composition. In one embodiment of the method, the volatile compositions are alternately emitted during periods that are greater than 15 minutes and less than 2 hours.

7528732 - Fire alarm device and method - Owned by Pixen Inc. (Tokyo,JP)

A fire alarm device and method capable of informing people with visual and hearing difficulties of occurrence of fire. A fire detection means (1) detecting the occurrence of fire is connected to an emission control means (4). A smell emitting means (9) activated by the emission control means 4 is also connected to the emission control means (4). The fire detection means (1) activates the emission control means (4) when detecting the occurrence of fire. The emission control means (4) is provided with a smell condition-setting means so as to set starting time for continuously-emitted smell, and to set emission periods, emission intervals and emission concentrations for intermittently-emitted smell. The smell emitting means (9) will be activated in accordance with the conditions set by the smell condition-setting means.

5958346 - Power-assisted deodorizer system and method

An article deodorizer system and method which is suitable for fixed, mobile, and vehicular mounting and complete interfacing with their air systems at any sites including homes, businesses, airplanes, ships, railcars, automobiles, etc., providing for air improvement by deodorizing selected air streams continuously by effecting the induction of desired interchangeable deodorizing additives into air streams whether conditioned or not improving human conditions. A control system provides for either stand-alone or complete automated operation and complete interfacing with other small and/or supervisory or complex, large control systems.

6149873 - Computer game enhancement

A scent apparatus is provided including a scenting mechanism for dispensing a scent upon the actuation thereof. Further included is an actuation mechanism connected between the scenting mechanism and either a computer or a game unit for actuating the scenting mechanism during a game.

6231032 - Sense-simile transmission machine having a rotating cylinder with cartridges for dispensing substances onto a reciprocating carrier

A sensualizer or sense-simile machine reproduces smells and flavors using a cylinder housing smell and flavor cartridges. Selected cartridges deposit predetermined amounts of sense substances onto a carrier to reproduce the desired smell or flavor. The cylinder rotates to bring rows of cartridges to a position for depositing the substances onto the carrier. The carrier moves back and forth along a path under the row of cartridges and stops momentarily under the cartridges selected to reproduce the particular smell or flavor. An air blast disperses the substances into a tube for delivery to a location where the senses can be aroused. The machine can be activated from a remote location over a standard telephone line or accessed through a computer over a modem. With a computer or other input device, simulations and reproductions can be done locally.
