Abstract
A vacuum attachment assembly is provided for use in combination with a corner sanding tool comprising a replaceable sander block of resilient foam material having a transverse cross section of the form of an isosceles triangle. The block is removably mounted on a carrier member which is inserted into a close-fitting chamber within the block body through a narrow entrance passage, the carrier being connected to a handle. The vacuum attachment comprises a C-shaped body having two parallel end portions extending from a central portion, and the sander block is of sufficient length that it must be compressed somewhat longitudinally for it to be inserted into the assembly, which is thereby frictionally retained under the resilience of the sander block body material. The attachment central portion has two parallel side walls which are butted by the resilient sander block to establish an air-tight, air-receiving plenum chamber between the attachment member and the sander block. The end portions have air flow passages connecting their free edges with the plenum chamber interior through which the air and entrained dust pass. An opening from the plenum chamber for the air also has a handle passing through to the carrier member. Preferably, the handle is surrounded by a flexible bellows forming part of the air passage, the remainder being constituted by the handle, which is hollow.

6325708 - Device for sanding a drywall corner

A device is provided for sanding the drywall compound formed along a drywall corner. The device includes a base and a pad holder, the pad holder being adapted to receive and hold a drywall sanding pad. More particularly, the pad holder is in the form of a generally V-shaped plate that conforms to the shape of the drywall sanding pad. The drywall sanding pad and the pad holder can be provided as an integral component or in the alternative, the drywall sanding pad can be detachably secure to the pad holder through a fastener arrangement such as through an array of hook and loop fasteners.

7488242 - Sanding apparatus with molded elastomeric pad - Owned by Allway Tools, Inc. (Bronx, NY)

A sander comprises a body member molded of polypropylene to which a soft pad member is integrally molded or directly bonded thereto. Preferably, the material comprising the pad member is of a thermoplastic elastomer material, such as Santoprene.RTM.. Significantly, when the pad member is molded directly to the body member, the pad has internal dimensions only slightly larger than the external dimensions of the body member so that, when the body member is located within the confines of the pad member, a secure fit is formed between these two members, without any space between them. Further, the respective dimensions of the body member and pad member give the sander a thick, one-piece appearance in side and end views. The pad member may also include a plurality of openings which help provide a "spongy" effect to the user, smoothing the peaks and reaching the valleys of an uneven surface upon which the sander is utilized.

7264541 - Drywall corner sander - Owned by Drywall Ideas, LLC (Clive, IA)

An improved drywall corner sander is provided with an elongated body having opposite sides, and a pair of spaced apart braces extending between the sides. An axle is pivotally mounted between the braces so as to define a first longitudinal pivot axis. A tab on the axle defines a second, perpendicular pivot axis. A handle is connected to the tab of the axle so as to be pivotal about the first and second axes for easy operation of the sander without forming grooves in the side wall adjacent the outer edges of the sander. The pivot axes both reside within the cavity defined by the side walls of the sander.

6227959 - Sanding sponge

A sanding sponge primarily used for sanding finished dry wall. In its least complicated embodiment, the tool is a hand-held sanding sponge made from a cellular foam material into a block having a top portion with a nonabrasive surface to ensure a comfortable grip and a bottom portion with an abrasive surface and acutely angled opposed edges, to allow the sponge to be used for sanding the corners and angles of finished drywall. In alternate embodiments the sanding sponge has means for attachment to a commercially available pole sander, or the sanding sponge may form an annular disk having a removable abrasive layer on one side and a hole formed through its radial center adapted for attachment: to an electric power sander.
