The present invention resides in a modular building construction for a vehicle oil change and lubrication center. The building comprises at least two components. Each component is a prefabricated section. One of the components is a one-piece below-grade vault, preferably of cast reinforced concrete. The vault has a floor and upstanding walls, and is dimensioned so that it can be transported on a truck-trailer bed. The vault has an open top. A second component comprises an above-grade enclosure. The above-grade enclosure is supportable by the walls of the below-grade vault. The above-grade enclosure has a floor opening, and a door access for a vehicle which allows a vehicle to be positioned over the floor opening. The floor opening is aligned with the vault open top and permits access from the enclosure to the vault. Means are provided releasably holding the enclosure to the vault. The vault has a height dimension which allows an attendant to stand up in the vault while servicing a vehicle positioned over the floor opening.
A service center for the self-service lubrication of over-the-road vehicles, and the method of use thereof, which center has at least one service area into which the vehicle can be driven for servicing, one or more mobile lifting devices positionable by the vehicle operator to engage and lifts and to subsequently lower, a portion of the vehicle to be serviced under control of such operator, lubricant draining apparatus engageable with the vehicle by the operator and operable thereby to effect the drainage of lubricant from the vehicle, lubricant fill apparatus engageable with the vehicle and operable by the vehicle operator to feed fresh lubricant to the vehicle as required, including metering apparatus for determining the amount of lubricant fed to the vehicle, and an attendant system for controlling use of said service center and its equipment, including calculation of amounts due by the vehicle operator.
A portable, modular, vehicle washing and servicing structure 10 includes a prefabricated first unit 12, a prefabricated second unit 28 and a roof 46. First unit 12 includes two sidewalls 14 and 16 and two endwalls 18 and 20. Second unit 28 includes one sidewall 30 and two endwalls 32 and 34. Structure 10 also includes means 42 for attaching first unit 12 to second unit 28 so that sidewall 16 of first unit 12 also forms a sidewall for second unit 28.
