A trigger sprayer contains a valve element that vents air from a pump chamber of the sprayer, while priming the pump, to the interior of a liquid container to which the sprayer is attached. In an alternate embodiment, the valve element includes an integral check valve.
A sprayer according to the present invention is suitable for a sprayer of type which is mounted to a neck portion of a container and pumps up liquid contained in the container to spray the liquid. The term "spray" includes a meaning of spraying the liquid in the atomized state by making the liquid into fine particles and a meaning of spraying the liquid in the foamed state by further making the fine particles mixed with air. A collision plate 50 is disposed in front of a discharge nozzle 21 so that the spray state when the collision plate 50 is in the closed state and that when the collision plate 50 is in the opened state are different from each other. A first holding means 250 for holding the nozzle cover 240 in the closed state, and a opened state holding means 260 for holding the nozzle cover in the opend state are disposed between a spraying member 210 having a spraying outlet 213 and a nozzle cover 240 for opening and closing the spraying outlet 213, to prevent the nozzle cover from inadvertently closing during spraying.
A low cost trigger sprayer has a housing with a first liquid passage containing a spinner assembly. An elastomeric pump element is positioned generally horizontally such that pulling the trigger retracts the element and releasing the trigger allows the element to extend. The sprayer includes a low cost spinner assembly and low cost valving to control the flow of liquid within the sprayer. In one aspect of the invention, the housing has front and rear sections with the rear section having a saddle portion and being hinged to the front section for pivotal movement from an open position for molding the housing to a closed position for operating the sprayer. In another aspect of the invention, the container has a rear portion which extends upwardly past the neck and defining a saddle recess, with the housing connected to the neck of the container and positioned forwardly of the upwardly extending container portion. The sprayer may include an elastomeric spring for biasing the pump element in the extended position.
A sprayer device (10) with a trigger pump (29) includes a substantially L-shaped body (14) that can be applied to a container for liquids and is provided with a sprayer nozzle (15). A chamber (20) wherein a plunger (33) of the pump slides, an input duct (37) which puts the container into communication with the chamber and an output duct (38) which puts the chamber into communication with the nozzle are formed inside the body. A suction and delivery valve (100) which allows the suction of the liquid from the inside of the chamber and the delivery of the liquid from the chamber to the sprayer nozzle is installed in the chamber of the sprayer body. The stem (32) of the plunger of the pump is operated by a trigger (29) biased by a spring (60).
A liquid sprayer is provided. This liquid sprayer comprises a bottle having an opening and a sprayer housing attached to the bottle. This sprayer housing includes an electric motor, a voltage source for powering the electric motor, a pump driven by the motor, a switch for completing an electrical circuit, a nozzle mechanism attached to the sprayer housing for spraying a liquid. The liquid sprayer also comprises a venting mechanism. This venting mechanism comprises a vent housing having an inner surface and an outer surface, and a translating piston disposed in the vent housing.

The liquid sprayer also includes a deformable "pinched tube" mechanism which prevents liquid from flowing through the nozzle when the sprayer is not being used. The sprayer housing also includes a trigger movably connected to the sprayer housing for closing the switch, translating the piston and creating a leak-tight seal by squeezing the "pinched tube".
