A pet toy and exerciser which produces an automatically movable, outwardly projected laser beam. The function thereof is to provide virtual "prey" for the stimulation and exercise of an animal. The device, which does not include a conventional motor, is small (e.g., can be handheld), lightweight, battery operated and silent, and has an extremely long potential cycle life. Electrically energized nitinol wires deflect a visible laser module to produce a virtual laser light target moved through three dimensions.

A playhouse for cats provides a container with numerous perforations and an interior containing various mouse and other cat toys which may be accessed through the perforations by a cat's arm. The first plate has a top side, a bottom side and a peripheral wall extending therebetween. A second plate has a top surface, a bottom surface and a peripheral wall extending therebetween. A plurality of posts positions the first and second plates in a spaced relationship. Each of the posts has a first end and a second end. Each of the first ends of the plurality of posts is securely coupled to the top surface of the second plate. Each of the second ends is securely coupled to the bottom side of the first plate. A plurality of elongate flexible members each a first and second end. Each of the first ends of the elongate flexible members is securely coupled to the bottom side of the first plate. Each of a plurality of toys is securing coupled to one of the second ends of the elongate flexible members.

A combination scratching post with a touch activated component and motorized mechanism for domestic cats that moves a mouse toy in an irregular manner that is intended to attract cats for the purpose of using the scratching post for play and exercise as well as grooming in the form of cleaning and sharpening its claws on the scratching post. The mouse toy is constructed in such a way as to allow the inside to be filled and refilled with catnip, a substance which cats find attractive, each time being resealed by means of an enclosure at the base of the toy. The mouse toy is activated to move via a motor inside the scratching post by a two step procedure. First, the device is "turned on" by a switch at the base of the post. This action does not activate the motor. Instead, it activates the touch-activated components and motorized mechanism which cause the coiled spring at the top of the post to turn and move in an irregular motion related to the power and frequency of the force applied to the post or base for an irregular period of time. This irregular pattern of movement of the mouse toy further actuated by a spring-loaded base is intended to create greater interest in the toy from the cat, challenging the cat into play and encouraging the cat to use the scratching post for exercise and grooming.

An interactive toy for use with pets is provided and includes a housing having a toy-like object positioned within the housing. The toy-like object is connected to a mechanical locomotion means so that the object can be selectively extended out of the housing and retracted back into the housing.
