A windshield wiper adaptor system that fits hook, bayonet and small and large pin wiper arm styles is disclosed. A bracket semi-permanently snap fits to a spring steel flat strip wiper frame. Adaptors fit to the bracket. The bayonet arm adaptor uses an easily molded slot to provide the detent for holding the arm. A resilient element presses the bayonet arm from below. The hook/bayonet adaptor pin, and pin arm adaptors, are held in the bracket by a barbed resilient arm attached to the pins. A further extension on the resilient arm of the pin arm adaptors engages the pin arm annular groove. Deflecting the arm causes the barb to engage the bracket while the same motion engages the pin arm groove. The adaptors could also be used in a convention frame where the bracket is not applicable.
A motor vehicle wiper articulated on a wiper arm by a connector provided with a sliding lock co-operating with a transverse element of the blade for fixing the connector on the blade. The lock includes a control plate capable of elastic deformation along a direction perpendicular to the lock sliding direction and bears means for blocking the lock which, when the lock is free in the locking position, co-operate with matching means integral with the blade for blocking the lock, and, further, when the control plate is deformed, are released from the matching means for enabling the lock to slide.
A method for producing a windshield wiper bracket (10) with a U-shaped cross section, with two through holes (12) disposed in the legs (11) of the bracket (10), through which a rivet (13) extends, wherein the method includes the following steps: production of through holes (12) in a flat bracket blank (14); insertion of a rivet slug (15) into one of the through holes (12); folding of the legs (11) to produce the U-shaped profile and to thereby position the rivet slug (15) in a position aligned with the other through hole (12); sliding of the rivet slug (15) into the position extending through both of the through holes (12), and riveting of the rivet slug (15).
A proposed wiper blade serves to clean the windshields of motor vehicles. The wiper blade (10) has an elongated rubber-elastic wiping strip which can be placed in contact against the windshield to be wiped and which is held substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis at an elongated, springing-elastic carrying element (12). A connection device (16) for complementing connection means of a driven wiper arm (18) which are loaded toward the windshield is arranged at the center portion of the carrying element (12). The connection device has two stop surfaces (36) which are located at a distance from one another, extend transverse to the driving direction, are parallel to one another and oriented in planes extending vertical to the windshield, and cooperate with counter-stops of the wiper arm. A problem-free and economical arrangement of the connection device at the carrying element is carried out in that one of the two structural component parts (12 or 16) which are connected with one another is provided with elastically deflectable catch means which cooperate with the complementing catch means of the other structural component part (16 or 12) in such a way that the two structural component parts are locked together.
