6155582 - Bicycle coupling device

A coupling device for coupling an adult bicycle to a child's bicycle. The coupling device includes a linking bar having a generally flattened "S"-shaped configuration such that the front wheel of the child's bicycle is in a spaced relationship relative to the ground surface when the child's bicycle is being towed by the adult's bicycle. The linking bar can be readily attached to both the adult's bicycle and the child's bicycle by respective attachment components. A releasable locking structure is provided for stabilizing the handle bar of the child's bicycle thus allowing a child to grasp onto the a handle bar for stability while being pulled by the adult's bicycle.

6983947 - Bicycle towing device

A bicycle towing device which is positioned between a tow bicycle, such as an adult bicycle, and a towed bicycle, such as a child's bicycle, and enables the towed bicycle to function as a one wheeled bicycle trailed behind the tow bicycle. The bicycle towing device in accordance with the present invention enables the towing of an intact and ridable towed bicycle behind the tow bicycle by lifting the front wheel of the towed bicycle off the ground and, if desired, the towed bicycle can be pedaled while it is being towed by the tow bicycle. When not in use, the bicycle towing device in accordance with the present invention is capable of being collapsed and stored on the tow bicycle. When it is desired to operate the towed bicycle in a one wheeled bicycle trailed mode, the bicycle towing device is capable of being removed from its stored position on the tow bicycle, extended and quickly and easily attached to the towed bicycle such that the towed bicycle can be ridden as a one wheeled bicycle trailer behind the tow bicycle.

6749212 - Bicycle trailer hitch or accessory mount - Owned by Trek Bicycle Corporation (Wateloo, WI)

A bicycle trailer hitch or accessory mount uses a trailer tongue or accessory receiving flange on a body with a pin that is rotatably and removably carried in a integrally mounted bicycle frame socket, the body and socket each having a corresponding bearing surface.

6601862 - Tricycle and intermediate frame for tricycle - Owned by Heinz Kettler GmbH & Co. (Ense-Parsit,DE)

Tricycle and intermediate frame for tricycle. The tricycle includes a rear axle, rear wheels coupled to free ends of the rear axle, a rear seat, and a rear frame coupled to the rear axle and to the rear seat. A front frame includes a fork tube, and the front frame and the rear frame are detachably connectable to each other. The tricycle also includes a handlebar, and a fork coupled to the handle bar. The fork is rotatably coupled to the fork tube. A front wheel includes pedal cranks and is rotatably coupled to the fork. A second seat and a holding element are also included. The intermediate frame is arranged to support the second seat and the holding element, and is detachably coupled between the front frame and the rear frame.

6796575 - Hitch assembly for attaching a trailer to a bicycle - Owned by Watermark PaddleSports, Inc. (Arcata, CA)

A hitch assembly for attaching a trailer to a bicycle includes a hitch unit mounted on a wheelstay assembly above the rear axle of a bicycle. The wheelstay assembly is pivotally connected at its lower ends to a skewer extending through the rear axle hub and a strut member is pivotally connected to the seat post of the bicycle and to the hitch unit. The hitch unit is rotatable about a substantially vertical first pivot axis and includes a mounting for attachment by a tongue of a trailer, such as a trailer cycle. The tongue is attached to the hitch unit so that it can swing about a substantially vertical first axis and pivot about a substantially horizontal second axis. When the hitch assembly is mounted on a suspension bicycle, it is able to move up and down, substantially vertically, as the rear wheel moves up and down relative to the frame and seat of the bicycle. That up-and-down movement of the hitch assembly provides a more comfortable ride and less vibration and shock is transmitted along the tongue to the trailed vehicle, such as a trailer cycle.
