A method and system is disclosed for accessing a remote personalized secretarial platform that permits a wide variety of functions with high flexibility, while being easily usable by an individual telephone subscriber. The platform can be accessed whenever the subscriber telephone is off-hook through a voice recognition monitor that monitors the subscriber line and is responsive to a preselected utterance to generate an access signal. Placed at the telephone switch facility, a monitor module is speech responsive individually to a plurality of lines that are off hook to generate signals that effect switch functions including bridging to the platform and modifying a subscriber switch feature profile.
Existing and new service provisioning capacity in an AIN is determined by calculating processor utilization. Existing service demand and component usage information is automatically acquired from the AIN. ISP service data and SCP configuration descriptions are updated as needed. For each new service modeled, a call processing record is developed. A time of day usage for each service is also entered. For each city in the region covered by the AIN, demand forecasts for each new service in the city is determined. Utilization is determined for SCPs, ISPs, and SPACE systems provisioning capacity.
Two types of voice can be set for reading text data of an electronic mail. A user selects a detailed setting button associated with one of the voice types to display a voice setting window, in which setting for the voice can be made individually. A drop-down list box include preset voice types such as woman, man, child, robot, and alien, and also names of voice types corresponding to phonemes created by the user, allowing selection thereof. In relation to a voice selected from the drop-down list box, reading speed, voice pitch, and strength of stress are set according to positions of setting levers.
A virtual interactive response (VIR) system mimics and enhances interactive voice response (IVR) technology by using humans to drive the voice recognition unit (VRU) speech recognition functionality. This VIR system initiates a dialogue with the customer by prompting the customer with an initial welcoming message. Calls from a customer are initially made in a first region having high labor costs, but are then directed to an overseas location using voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) or other voice communications technology. The calls are then directed to an appropriate human agent at the overseas location who then listens to the customer's query and makes a decision on how to respond to the customer.
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided apparatus for controlling a communications system having a plurality of voice channels and a user terminal for receiving at least one of the voice channels comprising: a receiving element for receiving a plurality of the voice channels, a controller for identifying one of the voice channels to be monitored, an event detection element for detecting the presence of a predeterminable event in the identified voice channel, and an alert generator for generating an alert when the predetermined event is detected.
Text-to-speech based reminder system. One or more servers within a communication network include hardware and software which allows the system to direct the collection of data about reminder, the translation of the reminder from text-to-speech, and the forwarding of the reminder to a recipient via an appropriate delivery method. The invention makes use of delivery methods such as e-mail, voicemail, or an existing telephone connection to communicate the speech reminder to a recipient. The recipient need not view a display screen to understand the content of the reminder, and needs no locally installed reminder software.
