The present invention involves the novel use of various classes of drugs, such as H.sub.2 and H.sub.3 agonists, as erectogenic agents in the treatment of male and female sexual dysfunction.
A method of treating sexual dysfunction comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a combination of phentolamine and apomorphine, as well as pharmaceutical compositions and kits useful in those methods, are disclosed.
There is disclosed herein a single use syringe (1) having a container section (2), a valve section (4) and a hollow needle (4a). The valve section (4) contains a one-way valve (40) which allows fluid to flow in only one direction through the valve section (4). A method of treating and a composition for treating female sexual arousal dysfunction, comprising administering to the patient a unit dose of a formulation comprising an effective amount of a prostaglandin, selected from prostaglandin E.sub.1, prostaglandin E.sub.2, pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof and physiologically acceptable esters thereof, wherein the prostaglandin is formulated with prostaglandin F.sub.2.alpha., together with a pharmaceutically acceptable delivery medium and/or a lubricant.
Described is the use in the treatment of either male or female sexual dysfunction of selective antagonists of the .alpha..sub.1B -adrenergic receptor and the pharmaceutical compositions containing them as compounds capable of helping the sexual act avoiding at the same time excessive side effects due to acute hypotension.
